TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (KUTV) — A natural gas leak forced the evacuation of two buildings in Taylorsville.

Construction crews hit a gas line with a backhoe while working outside on the south end of the Department of Agriculture and Food building, according to Capt. Tony Barker with the Unified Fire Authority.

Barker said the Taylorsville State Office Building was also evacuated just after 12:30 p.m. At the time, there was no estimated timeframe for when crews would have the gas leak fully contained.

In total, he said approximately 400 people were evacuated from both buildings.
