A lawsuit against file-transfer-software provider Accellion Inc. over data breaches that affected several of its customers and exposed the data of millions of consumers can proceed as a class action, a federal court ruled.
The plaintiffs were able to show that their proposed classes satisfied the requirements of numerosity, commonality, typicality, and adequacy, and that common questions predominated over individualized issues, Judge Edward J. Davila of the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Tuesday.
