A Royal Dutch Air Force F-35A Lightning II displayed a marking of a downed Russian Shahed drone, likely shot down in Polish airspace on September 10.

  1. Historys most expensive intercept? Anyways good job!

  2. I thought it said in the press release, the Italians scrambled… Shared assets?

  3. I hope the pilot used the GAU-22/A cannon to shoot it down and not some million dollar missile. A short *BRRRT!* after lining up should be all you need.

  4. Sorry I made a mistake in the title, the drone was most likely a Gerbera, not a Shahed.

  5. I bet the cost of the jet fuel for that mission exceeded the cost of the drone.

It’s almost like using a sledgehammer to kill a fly…

  6. meanwhile some aa crew in a pick up truck and ak in Ukraine has 50

  7. Just saw a F35 at our airshow, amazing plane, stole the show from the Angels.

  8. i can never get over how puny the landing gear looks on these aircraft. i know they are quite strong, but they look so weak on those aircraft. 😀

  9. There are dozens of Shahed drones launched into Ukraine daily. A single shot down drone is a sad joke

  10. To everyone commenting on this not being the way to deal with drones because expensive etc. During practice they don’t shoot down anything. During standard patrols not either. These systems are expensive anyways. We are not (yet) in a direct war of attrition. This is also about the potential damage on the ground too, AND signaling. Of course the Ukrainians have better methods, but why would we already be deploying dozens if not hundreds of mobile AA trucks along the entire NATO/Russia border when we are not nearly experiencing the same kind of daily attacks with hundreds of drones as Ukraine is. Everyone knows this is not a sustainable way of taking down drones when it comes to war. But right now it’s what we have.
