*”-* ***It is no surprise that London has lost its status as Europe’s financial capital due to Brexit****. From the outset, experts warned of the damage that the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union would cause to the Old Continent’s main stock market, and their predictions have come true, confirming the worst fears.*
*- The debacle suffered by the British stock market as the main European destination for IPOs has been enormous, and the data for 2025 leaves no room for doubt:* ***for the first time in at least 35 years, London does not appear among the top 20 stock markets*** *for IPOs, according to the volume of capital involved in these operations.*
*- The City, the term used to define London’s financial center, is at its lowest ebb.* ***Before Brexit, the British capital’s dominance of European markets was unquestionable****, and it was the fifth most popular market in the world for IPOs, a position it held for several years, according to data compiled by PwC and EY.*
*-* ***By 2025, this had completely disappeared****. The UK is already below Oman in the first nine months of the year and has fallen to 23rd place, below the top 20 destinations for IPOs for the first time in 35 years, according to data published by Bloomberg.*”
Genuine question – are ipos something I, as a regular guy, should care about?
No, it doesn’t.
The brits fucked themselves harder that the Americans.
If they vote for farage I don’t see this getting better.
All to with with Khan as Mayor. He has destroyed London and the way he talks to Trump means Americans are moving their money out. Simple reason
Good news: hopefully finance will have less of a pull on British politics.
Bad news: politicians will cast around for other donors and there are loads of wacky Americans seeking to buy anglosphere politicians right now.
No mention of 2008 Crisis is insane, it even includes about how high it was in 2006 and you see it never even came close to recover from that level, everyone just glosses past 2008 like it never rerouted the worlds power centres.
We have so many stats like EU economy was same size as US beforehand, China became more dominant, took more industry and technology transfers after, yet we act like we are past it. Running on fumes since.
The Tories made it a regional exchange .
