  1. > We’re hearing now from Andy Burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester, who tells the BBC what’s happened is a “serious incident”.

I fucking hate this country man.

  2. Another very, very worrying concern. On the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, to have a potential violent crime committed is beyond rhetoric pale

  3. >Some more now from Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, who advises listeners to “avoid the area”.

    >”At the same time, I can give some assurance that the immediate danger appears to be over,” he adds.

    >He says the incident was dealt with “effectively” by those on site, and by Greater Manchester Police.

  4. There’s videos online already showing someone has died. The police shot the person who done it and said everyone to clear as he had a bomb on him. This is so sad. Since when did more violence make anything better.

  5. I’m hoping the people who have been stabbed are not in critical & will survive. My sympathies don’t extend to the perpetrator.

Edit: it seems the perpetrator is dead

  6. More details are coming out:

    >GMP has confirmed the incident happened outside Heaton Park synagogue, on Middleton Road.

    >The suspect did not gain access to the building. He has been shot at the scene by armed police.

    > His condition is not known, but he is believed to be alive. It’s not clear how many people have been injured in this incident but one member of the public has been stabbed, the force said.

    > Speaking on BBC Radio Manchester, Andy Burnham says a car was also driven at members of the public outside the synagogue, with four people injured.

  7. horrible. people are sometimes confused when i mention security at the synagogue gates (at mine you also get questioned sometimes), and this is why!!!!!

  8. I hope those injured fully recover and those who perpetrate this crime are caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

  9. ‘We have nothing against Jews or Jewish people, we only hate Zionist Israelis’

*proceeds to murder a British Jew in Manchester*

  10. This is similar to an attack on a church during Christmas or Easter for Christians.

Violent attacks on innocent people based solely on their religious identity are always abhorrent, but deliberately choosing a holy day makes it even more egregious.

  11. Someone globalised the intifada, surely we all knew this was going to happen!

On one of their holiest days, nevertheless. God save!

  12. Videos are circulating on Instagram, where the police shoot the suspect as he tries to get up from the ground. In the background you can hear someone shouting “Shoot him he has a bomb, shoot him now” In which the police then shoot him. You cannot tell the attackers ethnicity in the video. Also be warned anyone who searches the video, you can see victims lying on the floor and it doesn’t look good. Honestly be warned I wish I had not viewed it.

  13. Just awful. Attacking random people at a place of worship is pure evil cowardice.

  14. Please dont be the cause for more race riots, im tired boss

  15. The state of antisemitism right now is such that I feel pathetically grateful to everyone on this post for recognising the horror of this instead of trying to write it off as a false flag or somehow deserved. Sincerely, thank you all.

  16. Is anyone actually surprised? This was inevitable given how much Jews are being demonized over the whole Gaza thing. People are just replacing “jew” with “zionist” to try pretend they aren’t anti-semitic. British Jews in manchester have nothing to do with whats happening in Gaza but they’re being slaughtered anyway just for being Jewish.

  17. This country has an outrageous issue with antisemitism. In the aftermath of this disgusting terrorist attack, we need to have a serious reckoning with those who promote this abhorrent form of racism in our country. Many of its so called leaders and politicians have plenty to answer for

  18. Honestly I’m terrified where this country will be in 2030. I already do security software for Jewish schools (now borderline prisons) and it’s shocking by how unshocking it is becoming.

You look at Southport and how things are on a knife edge waiting to kick off. It is such a horrible mix being egged on from all sides

  19. Yom Kippur today, the holiest of days for the Jewish community and instead its sadly turned into tragedy. Its so very sad.

Obviously too early to speculate on motives, my reading so far hasn’t revealed anything about the attacker. The tactic of ramming with a car then jumping out and stabbing so far to me would suggest this is just some lone-wolf type attack. Very difficult to anticipate or defend against.

I do think we have to commend the actions of the police, police called at 09:31, PLATO declared 7 minutes later and shots fired to neutralised the attacker less than 10 minutes after the call went out. It’s very easy sometimes to hate on the police at times in this country but with out their quick response and decisive actions this could have been much much worse.

  20. I hope all the people who were injured make a full recovery. I’m so grateful we have such tight controls over firearms in UK, as bad as this attack was, it could have been so much worse if the attacker had access to them

  21. My husband works in London and Stamford Hill had a massive police presence during Rosh Hashanah last month. Armed and mounted officers.

  22. I work in a hospital in the area. We had to go into lockdown, I was stuck on a ward for the last few hours.

  23. People will say how “shocked and appalled” they are, after fanning the flames that let to this for the last 2 years. There’s nothing shocking about this, it’s entirely expected that when you vilify Jews and pander to Islamist ideology, Jews will get attacked.

This is what “globalising the intifada” looks like. And this is what happens when you pander to islamism and its inherent antisemitism.

But don’t worry, it was only an “anti-Zionist” attack (/s in case it wasn’t glaringly obvious)

  24. I wonder if PublicFreakout will feature videos from this horrific attack. They absolutely hate Jews (due to Israel actions which I do not agree with) and will happily spew hate at them. Then they will claim that the right operate purely on hate as if they aren’t the exact same! Reddit definitely needs a crackdown on hate subs like that in my opinion.

  25. Disgusting attack on a religious holiday.

The shooter appears from reports to be dead, and armed with an explosive vest.

This could have been alot worse.

  26. Thank god we had armed police ready to respond to this. Could have been much worse if we didn’t
