It’s amazing what removing old vans from the roads does for air quality, eh?
Passenger cars too, but this was mainly about the decade+ age, high mileage, poorly-maintained vans and other commercials.
Exciting times ahead more cycling infrastructure. We desperately need better parking for rental e-bikes. And more pedestrianisation of high foot traffic areas.
Zeno’s paradox ass title, no offence OP.
It’s actually been noticeable how much cleaner London’s air feels as someone who only goes there every few months a year. It was horrible a decade ago
As a cyclist to work who was off for 3 years, the difference is very very noticeable
Andy Burnham is grabbing all the headlines but he backed down at the first sign of trouble when trying to take on the driving lobby in Manchester. He’s done a few good things with the buses and bike lanes but this achievement from Kahn is monumental; it took genuine political courage to get to this point over multiple election cycles. Each time he was rewarded and those metro mayors need to take note and do their part now. There’s no excuses anymore. And by the way why is nobody talking about Kahn for PM? Don’t answer that, we all know the reason.
I can distinctly remember how much worse car fumes used to be when I was a kid. I grew up in a small village and cycling behind cars there felt much more toxic than on a busy road in London today.
Mouth breathers incredibly conflicted
Yeah right. Oh is that a pig flying past the window
I remember thinking about a year ago, that I hadn’t had to use my asthma pump in ages, and also that the number of migraines I got in a year is less then half of what it used to be.
The difference is so stark!
For ULEZ, why allow polluting cars with a fee instead of banning them like other cities? It’s like saying ‘We don’t care about pollution if you’re rich enough to pay us £12.50 a day’.
Sadiq Khan’s London. Total bastard making me breathe fresh air.
Bloody woke air not poisoning my lungs like the good old days
When I visited China back in 2018, I was amazed by the smell of clean air in the busy street of Shanghai. Turns out most of the cars and public transport are electric other than construction vehicles which still runs on diesel.
Getting cleaner air in London is definitely good for people that commute a lot via bicycle or public transport.
Were they expecting Euro 6 diesel Ford transits to still be on the roads in 2 centuries?
