I only know 1 person that was spiked, she went out and on her second drink became completely paralytic.
Luckily her friend spotted the signs and due to them only just getting out took her straight to hospital. At the time they were both trainee nurses, they were still not believed and it took her a lot of arguing in the hospital to get them to actually submit her for testing (as much as i can remember, this was close to 10 years ago).
I remember her saying it came back as positive for something or other. Pretty sure the hospital staff passed it off as her being drunk.
“Anecdotal evidence suggests the practice is “widespread and dangerous”.” – I used to hear so many people blame their excessive drinking on being spiked back in the day I doubt it’s as wide spread as it’s made out to be…
We had someone in our group who had their drink spiked. Never reported it to the police, which leaves the scum bag thinking they can do it again.
Because the police have issues with institutional misogyny and will write them off as drunk slags.
And as expected, the comments in here proving exactly why women fear reporting spikings.
Happened to me years ago. Very strange feeling, like falling in a deep hole, or a dark tunnel closing in. My friends got me home and I felt shit the next day, with massive memory gaps. It was stupid to leave the drinks unattended, but they didn’t allow them on the dance floor.
I had my drink spiked last summer at a nightclub and didn’t bother reporting it to the police because just why? What are they guna do about it? They didn’t help me when I was raped and had evidence of my rapist admitting what he did, so how on earth would they be able to catch someone unknown at a nightclub anyway 🤷🏼♀️
And before people say “you were probably just drunk” I actually didn’t drink much of the spiked drink so I was fine. I’m just a weirdo who drinks wine out of a straw sometimes and I’d ordered a drink and when I took a sip, I noticed something crunchy in my mouth. Didn’t think much of it though as it could be a bit of plastic from the cup or whatever. A few sips later and I got a really big crunchy bit so I looked at my drink and there at the bottom of the cup were lots of undissolved crystals. I took it straight to security who shrugged at me. So I took it to the bar staff who were very concerned, gave me a bottle of water, got another security guard over who said “yeah that’s the second one tonight”, and they told me to come to them if I felt weird or unwell at any point and they’d take me to the first aid room.
I carried on with my night just fine but if I hadn’t used a straw, I probably wouldn’t have noticed and would have drunk the whole drink with the drug dissolved into it.
What’s annoying as well is that I didn’t leave my drink unattended at any time. It was always in my hand, which means it was someone who must have been quite smooth / well practiced in standing far enough away from you not to raise suspiciom, but close enough to get something into your cup 🙁
There are already comments here blaming the victims or claiming they just drank too much, no wonder people don’t come forward.
Those who do it know how to spike without being noticed, making identifying and prosecuting them a massive task for an already underfunded and understaffed police service. Victims who do come forward are only going to only become disheartened as the process drags out and no one is charged. Unless you search everyone who comes in, it very hard for clubs to do anything to completely prevent it.
I work at a nightclub and have first hand experience with this- probably 9 out of 10 ‘spikings’ are just excessive drinking and people not knowing when to stop. I’ve seen a couple actual spikings, when that happens people are fucking dead on the floor after a single drink.
Playing 21 Jaegerbombs and then throwing up everywhere is not being spiked.
The reports that are coming out from victims are extremely worrying, the police and other parties need to be doing more to reassure people that they will be taken seriously and encourage them to come forward.
If the issue is as widespread as is being reported in the media then these incidents need to be throughly investigated, evidence must be gathered, and criminal charges have to be brought if we are to have any hope of stopping the perpetrators from continuing unabated.
Is there any real evidence for people being injected against their wishes? How drunk do you have to be to not notice someone putting an actual needle in you and keeping it there long enough to push the syringe down.
Drink spiking has been studied numerous times and there’s never been a scrap of evidence that it actually exists, yet the myth persists anyway.
My Dad got spiked while out on a work-do. Being a late 50-year old man we are all pretty sure it was actually his young-female colleague who was supposed to be spiked (they swapped drinks).
He had a horrible “hangover” despite drinking very little; but he might have ‘taken the bullet’ and stopped something worse happening.
Why is anyone surprised that MPs are doing nothing as per usual. I’m pretty sure MP stands for Mostly placid. It’s not even a democracy because not everyone gets a say.
I’d like to point out that the most common way to spike people is by adding extra alcohol to their drink.
There was no hesitation a few months ago when the media claimed there was an epidemic then suddenly everyone had not only been spiked but injected.

Undoubtedly people get their drinks spiked.
But people often [think](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2750925/) they have been spiked with drugs when they probably haven’t.

Nothing came of it because it was media bull.
