Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is blocking Ukraine’s European integration because of the election campaign in his country.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a press conference in Copenhagen after the end of the 7th Summit of the European Political Community, according to an Ukrinform correspondent, reports Telegraph.

“As for blocking our rapprochement with the European Union, no one can block it, because it is the will of Ukraine and, accordingly, the decision of Europe to see Ukraine as part of the European Union in the future. But, of course, everything depends on unity, on a joint decision. We have certain problems with Hungary, we can talk about this openly. Because Viktor Orbán has a choice,” Zelensky said.

He also recalled that Russia launched its aggression against Ukraine precisely because of Ukraine’s desire to become a member of the EU.

“Russia started the war because of our will, because of our choice to move towards Europe, because we feel and share the same values as other European countries,” the Ukrainian president stressed.

As Ukrinform reports, Hungary, using the principle of unanimity in decisions on EU enlargement, is blocking the process of starting negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU. /Telegraph/
