  1. Lesson to be learned here is to not use new tech unless it is available at such a scale that it’ll actually be useful to make a real difference on the battlefield and remove the chance of it being used against you. Not 5000 fiber-optic drones, but 500K. Not 30 Flamingos, but 500. Et cetera.

  2. A lot of articles about Russia grandeur in military R&D lately while they are losing on the battlefield. Almost like it’s propaganda and not actually true.

  3. It goes both ways. Russia invented the optic fiber drones most likely.

  4. Well Ukraine, make sure that all your drones have a built in self-destruct, you could even have a timer built in, that, when armed, if not reset, would go off after some suitable time.

  5. > Russia gathers information on how Ukraine’s forces apply different new military technologies

Ukrainian military have to upload successful operations online in order to receive more donations. Russia sees those videos and quickly scales up whatever they see working. Rarely, they can’t scale it due to a missing link, such as the “Baba Yaga” Starlink controlled drones

  6. Russia and China have to steal their tech because technological innovation is impossible in totalitarian societies where freedom of thought is illegal.

  7. It’s war, this isn’t a new phenomenon. The Russians started using fiber optic drones and scaled production, now Ukraine is doing the same. Russians started with motorcycle assaults and had some successes. Now Ukraine is doing the similar version of such. Russians are using Iranian designed Shaheds, the Ukrainians are working on something similar.

  8. With fiberoptic drones it was supposedly russia which started using it first but it was soon adapted by Ukraine with both sides buying Chinese parts to make those.

  9. Sort of the reason why they West don’t want to provide cutting edge weaponry. There is always a failure rate and one will eventually fall into the hands of the enemy.

I categorically disagree with them being able to scale lighting fast, though. Where is the evidence of that?
