“Lady of the house speaking…… no, its Bouquet, spelt B. u. c. k. e. t. “
I loved Keeping Up Appearances as a kid- what a legend
That’s such an amazing age to reach but god I’m heartbroken to hear of her passing, she was incredible on KUA 🤍
She was a very funny lady. This makes me a bit sad.
She’s kicked the Bouquet
Awww Hyacinth Bouuuquet, Lady of the House speaking
RIP
Mind the pedestrians, Pat.
If you only know her from Keeping Up Appearance (or don’t know her at all), watch this 45-minute monologue of A Woman of no Importance: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uNEEfQKfwk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uNEEfQKfwk)
It’s only her talking to the camera but it is riveting and brilliant
B u c k e t, pronounced bouquet.
Keeping up Appearances was and still is one of my favourites. Comedy queen who lived a good life and had a remarkable innings. Rest in peace.
It still plays on PBS! Right after is As Time Goes By.
Riparian entertainments!
My grandma is a real life Mrs Bucket. She would hold candlelit suppers and was very strict on my manners which borderlines on deportment. She’s incredibly posh despite living in a terrible suburb (she was raised posh though). I used to answer the phone as “granddaughter of the house, speaking!”
To say that Keeping Up Appearances was nearly biographical in nature in my life, would be an understatement.
Patricia Routledge was iconic in that role and will always have a special place in my family’s heart.
Rest well, special lady.
Something about those Saturday nights at home as a kid, watching Keeping up Appearances and The Two Fat Ladies.
Thanks for the laughs, Mrs. Bucket!
Goodbye and God bless, one of the best comedy actresses in recent years. My thoughts and prayers are with all your family and friends 🙏🏾
At least she’s with my mom now- hilarious woman. RIP
I adore Mrs Bucket. Yes, I know it’s pronounced BOUQUET.
The original nosy neighbour RIP
Absolute legend. So sad. Thanks for the many years of laughter and may Patricia rest in peace. ❤️
I loved her as Kitty, too. Written by Victoria Wood.
Struck down in her prime
They have not aired Keeping Up Appearances in Norway for years. But at one point, she was always on when I got home from school, as they had like 2 hours of comedy shows after 3 o’clock every workday from the late 90s and well into the 2000s before they stopped with it on the one channel she was on. So she was a popular character, even among the younger audience.
Everyone knows some reference to that show, even today
Richard, mind the van . 😆
I loved her physicality- falling into the hedge and the dance on the cruise ship with Onslow.
Hyacinth and Richard, both gone now.
I suggest this show to someone at least once every three months. My she rest in peace and never be called a bucket again
My favorite was her making Richard drive around with all the plants in the car
Rest in peace, Mrs. Bouquet.
RIP. While bedt known for her BBC comedy she was an accomplished actress across a spectrum of performances.
She was such an incredible performer, a major mainstay of stage/screen with a long career. Keeping Up Appearances and Hetty Wainthropp Investigates were cornerstones in our household growing up. This one stings a bit but I’m glad she had such a long life.
Well this ruined my fucking day
Elizabeth, coffee at 10:00 dear
I have fond memories bonding with my grandma while watching Keeping Up Apperances. It’s still such a funny show. Here’s a link to the episodes, free of charge. [https://archive.org/details/arthur_delano_Keeping_Up_Appearances](https://archive.org/details/arthur_delano_Keeping_Up_Appearances)
Fond memories watching her as Hyacinthe which led me to Hetty Wainthropp. She’ll be missed.
Having been seeing her for years in Keeping Up Appearances terrorizing everyone around her… it quite frankly shocked me to one day find out she also lead a crime-drama series set in some of the much colder and wetter parts of the UK.
Royal “Dooltons” with the hand painted periwinkles
Speaking to you right now with my pearl handled telephone.
“Mind the pedestrians, dear”
rest in peace
She Truly kicked the B. u. c. k. e. t.
R.I.P. Hyancinth!
