The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4 without multiple stars in the lineup. One offensive playmaker that was missing was running back Jaylen Warren, who was a surprise scratch due to a knee injury that popped up late in the week. Pittsburgh worked out Warren before the game, but decided to sit him to avoid any risk of serious injury.

While Warren missed Week 4, Nick Farabaugh of PennLive reports that he is expected to be ready to go in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns.

“Sources told PennLive Friday night that the team had a low concern level for Warren’s injury, and expected him to play, but it would be more about how his knee would react to Saturday’s workload,” Farabaugh reports. “After Saturday’s practice, Warren felt ‘discomfort’ as one source described it, and the team chose to push it to a pre-game warmup. While Warren could have gone and played if it were a playoff game, there was still swelling in the knee and discomfort when he would cut, according to sources… He is expected to play against the Cleveland Browns and if there were a game this week, Warren would be ready to go. Kenenth Gainwell filled in well for Warren, who rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns in his absence.”

Warren has been one of the most explosive players in the NFL this season, specifically in the passing game. He’s averaging nearly 13 yards per reception and has 157 YAC yards, per Next Gen Stats.
