From world’s second army, to world’s first army that still uses cavalry in combat.
I hope Ukraine has enough snipers to take down the riders without harming the horses.
In WW2, cavalry was used against the nazis. Now we’re getting nazis on horses. How the world turns.
Nature’s way of telling you it’s long past time to gtfo.
Wasn’t there a Native American who became that tribes last warchief when he stole German horses during ww2? Because no one had cavalries anymore?
Steaks are back on the menu!
Putin wants to bring back the Russian empire so naturally he has to bring back the Cossack’s cavalry.
This is beyond dumb. You’re fight the ancestors of the bloody Cossacks. This isn’t going to end well for you Russia.
Poor horses
Aww, look, he cares about feeding his troops.
I hope these horses won’t be randomly.. like in that video.. for fun.
Effing rusnya.
This article reads like satire, storming a position with double mounted horses? Total insanity.
I am sure we will see an article in Hindustan Times in the near future on how Russians are outsmarting ‘Western Powers’ because you can’t use Javelins on a horse.
Not even kidding, they ran a whole video on how Russian missiles can now recalculate trajectory midair which somehow renders Patriots obsolete. Because that’s not 1980s tech or anything…
True. I don’t think they had large cavalry formations, though.
OK so what’s the over/under the Russians end up eating the horses?
Appears to be true.
I guess there are advantages such as not needing fuel when Russia seems to be experiencing some shortages 🤣
Horses do have superior night vision to humans and they certainly won’t set off magnetic mines presuming they avoid ferromagnetic shoes… but with two riders they could easily set off regular pressure triggered AT mines.
They’re a lot less noisy than a vehicle or motorcycle as well, although some of the electric bikes are likely also quiet enough.
They suggested a strategy of riding up to “strongholds” before dismounting to storm them but I imagine their primary tactic would be the same as the motorcycles, trying to get troops through a gap between front line bunker positions to then disrupt from the rear and create favourable conditions for a breakthrough.
There are a lot of places in the world where pack animals would be superior to motor vehicles for logistics. Ukraine is not one of those places.
