  1. We really should start charging these morons for funds for mountain rescue.

Only half serious, but it makes me so angry that most of the time these people are rescued by volunteers who are putting their own lives at risk due to their stupidity.

  2. “This was another avoidable callout that some common sense could have prevented.”

The problem is, he clearly didn’t have any common sense.

  3. There always has to be at least 1 moron that does not pay any attention to the weather when going out.

  4. The coastguard helicopter flew out of Caernarfon at the height of the winds last night. No idea what it was responding to but best not to have those guys risk it all for something silly.

  5. I have been caught out on a winter Munro in 80+ kph winds which were not forecast and literally had to crawl off using ice axes to make any progress but you take responsibility and figure it out. To deliberately go out in a predicted storm, on Tryfan of all mountains, is stupidity of the highest order. Whilst you have to applaud OVMRT, they must be sick to the back teeth of imbeciles.

  6. What an absolute bellend, there is no excuse when the whole news media this week at some point or other has had an article/story about the storms heading our way.

He risked his own life and that of the rescue team because he not only was arrogant enough to think a storm wouldn’t affect walking/climbing conditions in those mountains but that a pair of short would be fine, at high altitude, in October.

I am not even in that bit of Wales and it’s blowing a gale outside, you wouldn’t get me up Pen y Fan or Pen Pych today! Nevermind Tryfan! Even in good outdoor gear.

Wind chill is dangerous, people who don’t get out much outdoors can forget this.

  7. Saw someone walking from the Swansea university bay campus in a t shirt and shorts yesterday, can’t get sense out of some people.

  8. What an idiot. Didn’t look that bad FFS they have been predicting this storm for a week. They really should name and shame these fools.

  9. “Didn’t look that bad” from where? From their eyeballs?

As opposed to computers that scientists put in space to tell you that the weather is going to be bad?!

  10. These people should be fined for risking others lives to rescue them.

There have been weather warnings for days, it’s not like the bad weather was a surprise happening.

  11. I got a 17ft CB antenna outside and that’s about as high as I’d like to go, given the rapid bend it’s going to develop.

  12. What an idiot. There’s a storm ongoing and he goes up Tryfan in shorts.

  13. They should’ve been left there unless they contribute a fee towards the rescue. A simple £1000pp would be reasonable.

  14. These idiots should be prosecuted for gross stupidity and endangering the lives of their rescuer’s

  15. Often come of mountains in winter – where you need crampons etc. and some lads going up in the one hour of remaining daylight. I explain that they are walking to their death. The ignorance behind the dangers is the issue.
