This is more impressive than it appears because Lib Dems cover Scotland as well, while the Green Party of England and Wales don’t. If we include Scottish Greens in the broader “UK Green Parties” umbrella, the Lib Dems have been eclipsed a while ago.
Lib Dem’s are used to finishing 4th in a 3 horse race, now they are on track for 6th, maybe Ed Davey needed a bigger bouncy castle for his announcements
Ed Davey needs to bash Nigel Farage even more and mention him 87 times in the next speech rather than 86 times. That’ll do the trick
Greens have started to win me over as the only legitimate counter to Reform. Yes, some of their ideas are a bit on the insane side and I wish they would take a Pro-Nuclear stance than being stuck in 70s Anti-Nuclear nonsense but I’d take that over the Diet-MAGA Basilisk looking wanker (Farage)
If the greens wernt so anti car and anti nuclear they’d get alot more support
That’s depressing, but I’m a part of this problem. I resigned my lib dem membership when Ed Davey wouldn’t commit to rejoining the EU.
Maybe the LibDems need a deputy leader that runs crying to the police about Reform but plays a role in driving a Rabbi out of his own home.
I quite like Polanski, not so much other elements of the party (and I don’t mean the environmentalists).
If Libdems didn’t have such a hard-on for the triple lock, they might actually gain some traction with the non-boomers.
I think a lot of the Greens policies are dangerous and idiotic, but it’s also nice to see a party outside the status quo that isn’t fucking Reform (more dangerous and more idiotic) get some momentum. Polanski is doing his job well. And for what it’s worth, they’ve got some sensible stuff sown amongst the lunacy.
All of them left Labour party. Who does the Labour party represent any more. Certainly not the workers that is for sure
Lin Dems really need to find themselves a popular charismatic leader with some ideas and vision. Amazing that Ed is still there after fluffing the open goal at the last GE.
It’s gonna be so funny when Green’s split the left vote even further.
The Green Party only gets protest votes until the General Election time then folk desert them. The problem for the Green Party is that they have too many bizarre policies that cause people to freak out and run away. Those policies lurk just under the surface.
People like vibes based policy. Shocked not shocked 😐
This means absolutely nothing. Labour party membership surged under Corbyn and under his leadership Labour underwent the biggest thumping since Michael Foot. Lib Dems received a lower vote share than in 2010 but gained significantly more seats. Membership does not equal vote share, it just means there are more true believers.
Can’t take green fully seriously until they address right wing religious beliefs and issues of British social cohesion.
Otherwise they seem to be trying to pander to left wing voters but not actually having their best interests at heart.
A few Green Party members I know have some rather eccentric views, seem quite self-important and disconnected to the real world. Then again, most politicians are similar, they just wear different colours.
By the time the election comes around, I think it’s going to clear that Labour are the only possibility of beating Reform. Neither the Greens or Your Party have a hope of attracting ths centrist voters needed to get a majority.
My dream, a coalition with Labour and the greens that pull Labour to the left. That’s just me.
My concern is the dissolving of the Tory party, reform getting more of the vote share than we’re anticipating and labor’s potential majority for a hung parliament getting too diluted between lab/lib Dem/green that Farage walks it.
My cats instagram has more people than the Lib Dems.
Lib Dem’s will still get a massively amount more of MPs next election. Member count doesn’t really mean anything otherwise Labour would have won every election for decades.
I want a:
Pro nuclear party.
A party that wants more defence spending than there was, and one that’s supportive of Ukraine.
A party that would arrive for a single income household because the push for two learners in a household was a historic scam. (No,that does mean women have to stay at home…)
A party that is an “infrastructure party” and aims to build and modernise the grid, the roads and bridges, internet infrastructure, water infrastructure as well as proscribe Housing as a type of national infrastructure.
One that would realise the rise in electricity demand and it’s effects on both households, the grid and business. (Any household that goes from a petrol car to electric has increased their usage by around 7-10x per week – you need one nuclear power plant to change 10k electric cars at once)
A party that would lower migration significantly, if not near completely for a few years, and one that would work on heavy integration measures.
A party aiming to split all separate and segregated communities within the UK in order to blend the cultures across the area and push for integration and assimilation.
(Note for some, I am a migrant)
A party that would aim to rework the whole education system as that’s the foundation of the labour market.
A party that would sort out public sector no sense where councils are unnecessarily scattered (already started) and the Local Government system is a joke made for old people with no training or upskilling… Often operating like it’s 1995 in 2025. I sure hope CS is better in these matters…
A party that would aim to simplify all interactions with governance. That means means testing done internally with HMRC, people seeing what they are eligible for, removing the need to input all basic information and data about a milion times on a milion forms… Yes this might mean a digital ID.
One that would be friendly with the EU without joining it, and friendly with the US without obeying it.
A party that would be honest to the public about the Palestine-Isral issue and just layed it out for the simpletons that there is F all they can do about either party in the conflict. They can’t control not influence Israel because the UK doesn’t control global trade and they can’t do anything about Palestinians as they will be radicalised by the events as well as by the prevailing cultural attitudes (so an extent, that also on Israeli side). Literally, you even had some current MPs state that the recognition of Palestine was about as much influence the UK had in Israel…
Equally, they should be honest and administ there is. F all they can do about hatred of Muslims against Jews in the UK or vice versa as that’s an internal ethno religious conflict originating, and imported, from abroad. Claiming that recognition of Palestine led to the attack is ridiculous (for example).
Frankly. There is no party like this in the UK. There just is not. Some meet a point or two… None meet most.
Good. the Lib Dems are utterly useless and only seem to have a role to suck up votes that would be better spent with a legitimate alternative not whatever we have with a slightly more smiling face
I’ve joined recently too. Only party that speaks sense lately. Sure there’s things they support I don’t but that’s the case for all parties.
Totally organic and not astroturfed pro green messaging massively upvoted everyday for the last 2 weeks. So depressing reading the comments in here. Irrelevant party of crazies start getting massive amount of press, and traction on social media, out of literally nowhere – nobody is even moderately suspicious about it. Democracy is impossible.
They’ve got to fix their nonsense misinformation and negativity on Nuclear power if they are actually ‘green’.
