Footage of that time BBC2 mistakenly dubbed over Gomez Addams’ voice in a 1989 repeat of The Addams Family because of Thatcher’s voice restrictions against Gerry Adams

  1. “Mistaken” – using 1980s technology, knowing the script perfectly, slotting in the dubbing accurately…

Either they broadcast a training demo they were doing internally or someone in BBC was sending it up to highlight how ludicrous it was.

  2. *Gomez Addams has consistently denied ever being a member of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA).*

  3. The BBC would do joke bits for April Fool’s day. This may have been one of those.

    Remember the spaghetti trees.

  4. Your tone is antagonistic and you’re making me very angry.

  5. Please let this be real 🙏

    It would be hilarious 😂

  6. “Ah, cousin Provo! Pleasire to see you!”

  7. If they had really wanted to undermine his credibility they could have used the Bosco voice actor to dub over him.

  8. Did RTE also dub over his voice or is that something I am misremembering from my childhood?
