BAR HARBOR, Maine (WGME) — Nearly a dozen lawmakers are demanding the Trump administration restore signs removed from Acadia National Park.

The signs included information about climate change science and Maine’s Native American history.

The lawmakers say even signs about basic trail etiquette were removed.

Their letter to the secretary of interior reads in part, “There should be nothing controversial about these signs. Their removal from the park is unfortunately another example of this administration’s attempt to stifle science and whitewash our country’s history. It is beyond troubling.”

We reached out to Trump’s department of interior for a response.

An automated reply stated that because of the shutdown, inquiries aren’t monitored at this time.
