Four in 10 households struggling to pay energy bills even before £700 price cap increase

  1. October will be very rough. Surely the energy companies can increase rate per kwh for larger businesses and use the extra revenue for those who can’t afford energy?

  2. Remember, Tories also a few weeks ago cut eligibility for the Warmer Homes Discount so that thousands upon thousands of disabled people will no longer be entitled to financial aid to heat their home.

  3. Openly talking about it is the first step towards change. The government will expect people to suffer in silence, like they have always done, people only stand a chance if they protest en masse and vote the Tories out at local elections. We need to stop being afraid of causing a fuss is we want to see any sort of help for poverty.

  4. This might be a niave comment from me but i dont get the huge cost being put onto customers with companies going bust (showing that there is a squeeze on the companies also).

I saw a post bragging about the UK having 30% renewable sources, surely that should account for something?

Secondly, which is my own opinion, why hasnt this price increased pushed the general public to demand more renewable sources. My feeling is that once the prices hit a higher point energy firms will push for more renewable energy but we’ll never see that cost saving pushed back onto the customer.

  5. Before anyone jumps on me I totally have sympathy with anyone struggling as I’m struggling myself bigtime BUT the same news story every single day just reeks of clickbait and rinsing a subject to death.

It’s a real annoyance of mine how these ‘journalists’ just get a boner for Covid figures and cost of living stories and post them every single day for eternity with a different headline.

Just profiting off of everyone else’s misery and acting like they give a fuck when they want things to be as bad as possible so we give them more revenue.
