White House ‘looking into’ decade-early release of Ronald Exantus

  • 04.10.2025

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – The White House has confirmed an investigation into the release of Ronald Exantus, a man who was released from prison 13 years early after stabbing an entire Kentucky family and killing their 6-year-old son, Logan Tipton.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made the announcement on X (Formerly Twitter) just after 8 a.m. Saturday.

“It’s wholly unacceptable for a child killer to walk free after just several years in prison,” Secretary Leavitt said on X.

Investigators say that in 2015, Exantus entered the Tipton household through an unlocked door. He then committed a series of stabbings, injuring the six-year-old’s father and two sisters.

Exantus was convicted of the stabbings of Tipton’s father, Dean, and his two sisters. However, he was found not guilty by reason of insanity for the death of six-year-old Logan.

Exantus was sentenced to 20 years in prison, the total of two concurrent 10-year sentences for each assault in the stabbing series. The Kentucky Supreme Court upheld his conviction in 2020, while a state board denied him parole in 2021 and deferred it for two years in 2023.

This October, Exantus was released from prison, 13 years before his sentence was set to expire. He is expected to serve six months of parole in Florida and will stay there under probation and supervision until June 2026.
