Moldova voted to reject Russian disinformation and military meddling on Sept. 29, and now we can see how the world, especially the EU, is taking that result. First, the election results, then, some reactions. Note that ThatPerniciousIdiot Whose Name Should Only Be Mentioned in Impeachments and Indictments and Losses in Court, but Certainly Not Here hasn’t even called to congratulate Sandu.

Here is the electoral commission page. (in Romanian) The PAS is the pro-EU party with 63 seats, but there are almost 2 dozen political parties running. the 2 biggest pro-Russian parties are Chance (sansa in Romanian) and Revival (Renaștere in Romanian), with some smaller parties.
The Russians have been pulling out the stops to sway the elections, from outright vote buying to a massive cyber attack on the government’s websites, but the Moldovans have been on top of it.
We saw this coming.

According to Politico,
With more than 98 percent of the ballots counted, and a re-allocation of votes for parties that didn’t make the threshold yet to come, PAS is well ahead with more than 49.7 percent of the vote compared with 24.5 percent for the pro-Russian Patriotic Electoral Bloc (BEP).
Moldova is a county that has had a lot of election interference from the Russians. It is the poorest country in Europe, and it’s neighbor, Romania, with whom it shares a language, is the poorest country in the EU. Seems like it would be time for a change in BOTH countries.

Official relations between Moldova and NATO began in 1992 when Moldova joined the North Atlantic Cooperation Council. However, as Moldova’s neutrality is enshrined in its constitution, there are no official plans for Moldova to join the organization.
