  1. > “I remember after opening weekend, they were like, ‘Well, we tried,'” the Ghostbusters actress recalled. “And we were like, ‘Sorry.'”

    > Wiig added, “We just thought, like, that was it. And then I think just more and more people kept seeing it and then it kind of happened later.”

  2. I wonder what the studio was expecting for the opening weekend, $26m seems about right. Less than Knocked Up but more than Funny People.

  3. >*”the Ghostbusters actress recalled.”*

Why would you refer to her that way? It’s seems so out of context. Maybe a little mean, lol.

  4. I saw this movie in theaters with my college roommate right after slamming a bowl of mac at Noodles and Co. Never laughed so hard. This was a defining movie of that time in my life!

  5. I think it’s one of the worst movies I ever saw. Nothing about it is funny.

it was super cringe to watch – every joke was at someone else’s expense, making fun of someone, at least that’s what I can remember.

I just felt second hand embarrassment the whole way through

  6. It’s like one of five movies I bought on google play way back when. Still watch it on YouTube once a year probably. It’s up there with the stupid comedy greats for me.. like Something About Mary and Pineapple Express good. It’s gonna put you in a good mood, and that’s what any good comedy should do. There’s no politics or hate, just hilarious shenanigans.

  7. How about calling Wiig “the former SNL star” or smt.

  8. I sure hope she wasn’t aiming for critical cinema with it lol. Movies are fine to exist in a lane of funny and stupid, that’s what popcorn is all about. I love Bridesmaids.

  9. it was not a flop in my household.

i do think it’s underrated, though. i’m sure it didn’t gain nearly as much traction for going to see it opening weekend because it was probably perceived as being a “chick flick” and otherwise a movie “for women.” but when i saw it in theaters, my showing had a good turn-out (mostly women), and you could tell everyone was having a blast. the dress shop scene killed us. i go back to this movie and it still holds up, too.

  10. Kristen played a mid-30s woman whose life had totally fallen apart to absolute perfection. She was a total mess but weirdly 100% authentic and believable. Everything now is so meta, performances like hers are increasingly rare.

  11. Uhhh, this movie is great and I still quote it…. “helllllp me, I’m pooooor.”

  12. One of my most treasured memories with my homies was going to watch this movie.

  13. I lost it when Melissa Mcarthy brings home all those puppies. Pure gold.

  14. I don’t think I ever heard anyone who has seen that movie say they didn’t like it.

  15. Now that perimenopause is rearing her ugly head I use the “Ya feel that, that’s the heat from my undercarriage” line a whole lot more.

  16. Totally a cult classic now, I’ve seen it more times than I ever thought I would.

  17. When I saw this, I was in my hometown for my brother’s wedding in which I was a bridesmaid. I was supposed to go with my boyfriend but he broke up with my six weeks prior. I was working in a jewelry store at the time.

This movie resonated with me DEEPLY lmao. Everyone we saw it with made the comparison, too, lol. Still one of my favorites.

  18. “Help me I’m poor” still goes strong today. Unfortunately….

  19. The scene where she’s trying to get the cop/boyfriend to pull her over is absolutely hilarious. “Look at me I’m drinking and driving” amazing

  20. Sipping the pink lemonade and whispering “god damn it that’s good…”

  21. I never hear/see references to it online and I don’t know anyone who’s watched it twice.

  22. If you can watch this movie without laughing for 20 minutes, there’s probably something wrong with you.

  23. I wouldn’t call an Oscar nom for best original screenplay a flop.

  24. It was the last good comedy, ever since it’s just comic book slop and remakes

  25. This is one movie I’ll watch every time it’s on. Couple’s Retreat is another. Hilarious.
