KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Gov. Bill Lee received the annual ‘Expect Employment’ report by the Employment First Task Force at Muse Knoxville on Thursday.
The report shows the Employment First Task Force’s progress increasing employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
The Employment First Task Force was created in 2013 to increase employment outcomes for people with disabilities by bringing state agencies, people with disabilities and their families and other stakeholders together to identify and remove barriers to employment.
Before the presentation, the governor met with Muse employees to learn about how they partner with local disability providers, Knox County Schools and the UT FUTURE program to provide job training for people with disabilities through their Muse Ambassadors program.
The report was presented to Gov. Lee by Derrick Freeman, an ambassador for the program.
The museum has been recognized by the state for its disability employment efforts, and the children’s science museum was recognized by the state for its commitment to Employment First in 2024.
