(CNN) – Rite Aid, once one of America’s biggest pharmacy chains, has officially shut down all its stores nationwide after 63 years in business.
The pharmacy chain thanked customers for their years of support in a statement on its website.
Founded in 1962, Rite Aid announced the store closures in May when it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. That was the second time the company filed for bankruptcy since 2023.
The drugstore previously said customer prescriptions would be transferred to other pharmacies. Its website has links for customers to get more information.
In May, Rite Aid was operating about 1,200 locations in 15 states. Most of those were sold to rivals CVS, Albertsons, Kroger and Walgreens.
