WANA (Oct 05) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson condemned Israel’s assault on the humanitarian fleet Al-Somoud in international waters and the violent detention of activists supporting the Palestinian people, describing the act as “a terrorist measure aimed at extending the imposed famine in Gaza.”

Esmaeil Baghaei highlighted that nationals from 47 countries participated in the Al-Somoud humanitarian campaign, which seeks to break the inhumane blockade of Gaza and oppose the ongoing genocide against Palestinians. He emphasized the need for all governments and the United Nations to support this campaign, hold Israel accountable, and demand the immediate release of the detainees.

Referring to the transfer of Al-Somoud detainees to the notorious Ketziot Prison—known as a symbol of torture and inhumane treatment of Palestinian prisoners—Baghaei stated that the arrest of pro-Palestinian activists and their transfer to this facility, along with the “insulting conduct” of Israel’s internal security minister toward them, represents “yet another sign of the regime’s moral collapse.”

Expressing disgust at the continued support of the United States and several Western countries for the massacre of Palestinians, Baghaei asserted that “all governments bear legal and moral responsibility to stop the genocide and to prosecute and punish the perpetrators of these crimes.”
