Gaza aid flotilla says Israeli warships ‘intercepted’ boats • FRANCE 24 English

Press this hour. The Israeli Navy is tonight intercepting an aid flotilla that’s been attempting to break the blockade on Gaza by delivering humanitarian supplies to the besieged territory. The activists, including Swedish campaigner Greta Tunberg, are being transferred to an Israeli port. You can see those live images from a couple of the vessels just coming in to us there. In a statement a little earlier, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said that several boats had been stopped, adding that Greta Tunberg and her friends were safe and healthy. The interception comes as activists complain that Israel had been using intimidation tactics against them. With the latest, here’s Simon Moritz. Earlier today, it was increased drone activity. Now the Gaza bound Global Summed Flotilla has been surrounded by Israeli naval vessels. According to those on board, the interception of the global Samur flatillaa by Israeli forces began almost an hour ago, perhaps a little longer, with a radio message ordering us to stop. Israeli naval forces on Wednesday intercepted a flotilla carrying aid to Gaza, ending its latest bid to break an Israeli blockade of the war-battered Palestinian territory. The Israeli military operation was announced by both the flotilla itself and the Israeli foreign ministry.
