Consider for example these Lehre positions by Swisscom: https://www.swisscom.ch/de/about/karriere/berufsausbildung-studium/lehrstellen.html

They mention that it leads to an EFZ, and in average there are two days per week of "school days", aka the days that the apprentices attend classes, if I'm right.

But who holds those clasess, provides teachers etc? Swisscom? Some special school? Or each apprentice is responsible for their own "school days" and has to find a proper school etc? How does it work?

And what about the next step, i.e. HF Diploma?

Thanks

  1. There are schools called berufschule, which are schools for learning a profession. Each school usually has a couple of professions it can teach.

The company where do the lehre at chooses the approtriat school where you enroll. Which is usually just the closest that has the right profession. It also takes care of the enrollment and registrates you with the Lehrverband.

  2. While in an apprenticeship the place of apprenticeship (Lehrbetrieb) is responsible for enrolling the apprentice in the respective school which happens automatically once you have a apprenticeship contract. You can read more about it here: https://www.zh.ch/de/bildung/schulen/berufsfachschule.html

Edit: HF Diploma happens after Lehre and enrolling at a respective HF is your own choice.

  3. The workplace will sign you in to a school “Berufsschule”. You will have classes with other students with the same Apprenticeship. There are so many school, it depends on your place and job, where you will go. The rest is kinda like a normal school.
HF Diploma are also in these schools. But this topic is for after EFZ.

Don’t worry too much about it, just make sure you find appreticeship that you like. Good Luck!

  4. Nah, there are Berufsschulen/Berufsfachschulen. If you get your apprenticeship you don’t have to organise anything. You just have to show up. It’s the cantons obligation to organise it. Teachers usually have Uni/HF degree, some other higher education or just a lot of field knowledge from working the job. Usually you have to go to school in the canton you do your apprenticeship in, but sometimes it’s also in another one, especially if it’s a rare job.
