  1. I don’t like it. People might not agree with the Palestine stuff, but this seems waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too far in restricting rights in general.

At this rate Labour is going to make Reform look like liberals lmao.

Edit: I just want to add that its nice seeing the disingenuous idiots that are here arguing in favour of greater protest restrictions are so few.

  2. And what protests do you think will be shut down? Cause it won’t be Palestine ones!

  3. Fuck the idiots marching for palestine, I completely disagree with them. But trying to ban them from marching is completely wrong, it’s a slippery slope to ban protests.

  4. Aww bless. More human rights thrown down the drain to suppress political opposition.

Dear Free Speechers, where are you? Just because this is aimed at Palestinians, are you really going to let this slide? Do you not realise that protest is free speech too and applies to your opponents as well as yourselves?

Hmm. Let’s see how many of you are outraged at this.

  5. “People are allowed to protest as long as it makes absolutely no difference and doesn’t affect anyone”

  6. For posterity, you can protest against Israel in the UK. You can’t support PA or hamas because they are a proscribed group.

You are either protesting the proscription or protesting against Israel. People love to conflate these two things and pretend they are being arrested for protesting a genocide.

  7. It’s was sooooo obvious that these attacks were going to be used as a pretext to justify stifling protests even further

  8. I feel safer already! More control, more oppression, more digital IDs, and facial recognition! Just give up more of your rights, YOU WILL BE SAFER

  9. that will show them! can’t have people protesting next stop will be anarchy

  10. In other words you will be only allowed to protest if the subject of the protest is approved by the UK Government. Forget freedom of speech it will be a thing of the past!

  11. Even the police have said it’s ridiculous at this point why push this shit through

  12. Why the fuck do we keep having to oppress the right to protest. And from a labour government that’s pretty shit.

  13. So this is how democracy dies

    With(out) thunderous applause

  14. We should be able to protest anything we like at a moments notice.

  15. Go and protest in the Middle East, if that’s where you think the problem is.

  16. Well if protest aren’t allowed then it’ll just have to be riots.

  17. Your allowed to protest once and if it’s not listen to that’s your lot go home.

  18. Hopefully they pick lots shop lifters amongst the protestors …..

  19. Here we go. Instead of tackling the issues they instead grant greater powers to the police.

  20. UK doing a great job of heading into the same political state as the countries migrants make the move from.

  21. I think the great recipients of these daily/weekly protests is the overtime fund of the Metropolitan police.

There’s got to be a middle ground between right to protest and blank cheques for policing.

  22. And not many years ago, everyone was saying how China is fascist, and the government is controlling its people. But it seems everyone forgot to look at their own goverments in the Western world.

  23. We are not banning protests; it is just restricting. When you stop someone doing something, then that is a ban. So instead of solving the issue, they want to bury it. Labour are the last hope we had of governance in the UK. What is on the side lines is extremely scary. And they are trashing that.

ATM I cannot not vote for what I want as FPTP would mean a Tory MP. I have to vote strategically. And now I cannot protest to make my voice heard by other means.

  24. The important thing to note is that unjust laws do not need to be obeyed. What are they going to do? Keep arresting us? In the end the system is fragile.

  25. You already have to apply to have a protest in this country lol, I don’t agree with them, but I will always defend the right to protest.

  26. It’s almost like there are consequences for protesting in support of a terrorist organisation

This has nothing to do with the concept of protesting, it’s literally because people refuse to get it in their heads that supporting PA is now a crime and attending any kind of PA protest or declared support will lead to being arrested

Heavy fines and/or some kind of judicial punishment
