British government jobs for foreign workers, foreign workers first!
you’d have thought there was no suitable employable people in this country, no?
Unbelievable
The institutions have been infiltrated
Net migration has been halved. What kind of fake news fuckery is this?
What do you get when you fire the most “expensive” (aka the most senior and most technically skilled) lot in civil service with no succession plan, in the name of austerity measures?
Surprise…its the need for migration!
UK civil service
Full of non-UK nationals
Why are we so pathetic as a nation?
I wonder if people will learn to read.
Anyone got the non paywalled source
What were they brought in to do? I suspect they are IT professionals etc.
We need a bit of harsh truths putting our way as a country.
There’s a reason why IT is dominated by Indians…it isn’t that they are inherently better at it. It’s because they study courses and develop skills that matter.
Far too many students in the UK have the old fashioned idea that it’s a place you can go to ‘find yourself’ have fun and then there will be a great job waiting for u at the end….
So we have thousands of kids studying sociology…and the like. Why? We don’t need so many people doing it. What will they do after graduation?
Meanwhile kids around the world are getting certified and qualified in the skills that we need.
Then we wonder why we need to bring people in…
I work in the civil service and there is a minority of foreign employees who mostly come from India and Nigeria. They typically aren’t very good at their job, don’t really get UK working culture but are pretty much unsackable.
This is only my experience of course but it is disheartening. I’ve had colleagues who can’t really read and write in English to a workable level and they are getting the same pay as me. Its a cliché but you can’t really criticise them either as the race card gets played.
One colleague started off fairly friendly and then started being very intrusive with staff members of the opposite sex, thos escalated to following them home, messaging them on socials etc eventually someone complained and then they all complained and the offender was taken to tribunal. They managed to keep their job and was redeployed to a different area with the justification being that the on boarding process didn’t account for their differing culture.
They introduced a new criteria to Gov jobs, it’s been compulsory to spell correctly and have teeth recently. So it’s discrimination against true patriots.
Nobody is willing to work for less than a living wage.
We’re priced out of everything.
Until there are wages we can live on this is the only way to get positions filled.
Foreigners will take shit pay to get here.
They aren’t the problem.
Living costs must be reduced.
Our energy prices are subsiding this whole AI bullshit. Major companies are robbing us blind by getting us to pay their bills.
That’s why we’re paying stupid money to live.
That’s why all costs are up.
As someone who’s worked in government, UK-India FTA? More like a fast track for Indian hires screwing over Brits. Feels like a total slap in the face.
Companies can skip 13.8% employer NI on up to 75k Indian transfers, saving ~£4,300/year per £40k worker (gov’s own numbers). Brits get hit with that tax, so Indian staff are instantly cheaper. Infosys/TCS must be popping champagne.
The £38,700 minimum? That’s under the £45k+ UK median for tech jobs (ONS stats). Firms with India offices just “transfer” at the low end, fake a “no locals” test, and poof—your dev role’s gone.
“Temporary” my arse: 3 years max, but 75k cap + 30k existing visas yearly? It’s a steady drip of undercutting in IT/engineering. £100m taxpayer hit for what—corporate profits?
Labour’s banging on about £4.8bn GDP magic, but if it means more “position filled abroad” emails, count me out. Who’s watching the door? Time to push back.
C’mon. We need some legal migration to grow the economy.
British Jobs for British People. That should be the first priority of any UK government, no matter the party.
‘Flying in’ suggests they paid for the flights, I do not believe this happened.
400 people. Big fucking wows.🙄
At what point do people really say this is taking the piss?
This article is utterly disgusting ragebait and greatly exaggerated.
The Civil Service employs literally *hundreds of thousands of people.* That article mentions that last year the Civil Service sponsored only 400 employees’ work visas. Barely a drop in the ocean and nothing to get riled up about, yet the headline makes it sound like the government is bringing in thousands of foreigners to take up Civil Service jobs.
Speaking as someone who has been through the process herself, many Civil Service jobs require you to go through a rigorous selection process, in which it will be plain to interviewers if you do not speak good English. Additionally, the vast majority of Civil Service jobs do not offer visa sponsorship and require you to have an existing right to work. On top of that, there are nationality restrictions for people to take up these jobs, with only Commonwealth and EU citizens being eligible and the most sensitive, high-ranking / high security roles understandably being reserved only for British citizens.
This article is disgusting and breeds misinformation and I won’t stand for it.
