Received today, a perfect copy of the SMS messages that UBS sends to its clients. Except that I'm not a UBS client. Otherwise follow the wind, you come across an "online shop" where you can get "gifts" against points plus an additional amount to pay.

  1. I doubt that this is anything like a “perfect copy” of what UBS sends to their customers.

Apart from the very obviously faked URL, I’d be surprised if the bank would write about “consequences” that have to be avoided when some “points” (what points?) expire…

So it’s another example of: “make the scam as obvious as possible, so you can already filter out anybody who isn’t completely clueless in the beginning, so that you only have easy victims down the road when the scam gets more complicated to run”.

  2. swiss r/ are all getting regular post about obvious scams, are people here naive af or are our geos populated by a majority of boomers?

  3. No offense, but I don’t think the people who are dumb enough to fall for such a fake url have a reddit account.

  4. UBS does not send expiration messages and 3250 would be quite impressive. One would have to spend over CHF 541,000 by credit card to collect so many points.
