Hungarians came up with a new word, “Orbanned”, meaning an attempt to ban something, but just making it more popular, referring to Budapest Pride

  1. No, we Hungarians didn’t come up with this word because we speak Hungarian and not English.

It’s bullshit it hasn’t get “popular and widely known”. I took part in the banned Pride for the first time to protest against the government but I have never heard this “Orbanned” word before. though I’m pretty well informed in the Hungarian politics.

No, the people don’t use it. Again: the people speak Hungarian and don’t create English words but – surprise, surprise – Hungarian ones.

So If you come to Hungary don’t try to mention it because nobody will know WTF you say.

Stupid USains believe that the whole world is English.

  2. There’s always some circus attatched to new political terminology.

  3. It should have been a word meaning “betrayer of Europe” since 1453 when a Hungarian named “Orban” helped the Ottomans design and construct the largest cannon used to destroy the walls of Constantinople leading to it’s loss and the end of the Byzantine Empire…

  4. We will only see if this is true next year. Now it could be about protesting only

  5. As a Hungarian, this is bullshit and this is the first time I hear this. Also we don’t mix Hungarian with English.

  6. Peak reddit moment. Hungarians will not create English words… This is such nonsense.

  7. No, we did not.

We don’t use english words daily, also I never heard or read it anywhere. You can search /r/hungary, it most probably won’t come up.

Just because some enthusiastic guy could create an account on Wikipedia and create an article doesn’t make it true.
