Green Party conference calls for the Israeli Defence Forces to be proscribed as a terrorist organisation

  1. Personally I don’t think it’s a good idea to expand the Terrorism Act further until it’s significantly amended, proscribing the IDF can criminalise actions that the Party don’t intend to criminalise. Unfortunately no one brought up this point at the conference, it kind of came as one of the bullet points of an amendment to a motion, so it didn’t get proper debate.

For the record the IDF does meet the definition of a terror organisation, I just don’t think they should be proscribed under this legislation.

  2. I’m concerned about what the repercussions of this would be from Israel and its allies.

  3. When shitty online talking points become policy. A Green Party story.

  4. yep, this should have happened over a decade ago, its not new that the IDF targets civilians, and children specifically. Look up any discussion on the situation and you’ll find accounts of it being raised repeatedly for the last 20years, both in gaza and the west bank.

  5. Of all the evil armies in the world why are they only targeting the one Jewish state? The unique hatred Israel gets can only be due to antisemitism

  6. The RSF who are actualy comiting a genocide in sudan (not just having people scream it) aren’t even proscribed.

The russian FSB who have straight up murderd people on our soil and you know the invasion of ukraine aren’t proscribed.

To start with the IDF alone, well it’s mighty selective.

  7. If Palestine Action can be a terrorist group, then the IDF 100% can be as well.
