  1. Nah. It was a big draw when it first opened but considering all the other IP’s Universal has access to I don’t see losing The Simpsons as catastrophic. Let’s be real The Simpson’s is not the juggernaut it once was.

  2. Parks have rebranded and moved away from IPs before, I remember when Kings Island lost the Paramount rights. Just get another IP to replace it, universal would be fine.

  4. Universal changes their park more frequently and easily than Disney.

    The JAWS ride got dropped, and others are aging badly. It’s ok if they drop the Simpsons.

  5. Universal has Mario, Minions, and Jurassic Park – and Dr Seuss for the little ones. Even if Disney took back Marvel and Simpsons, Universal would still have a lot. But I think Disney is going to go to town on the next licensing renewals

  6. Disney now owns it. Universal is unwilling to give up the Marvel theme park license in Florida, so I can imagine Disney is unwilling to renew the Simpsons theme park agreement for Universal.

  8. The “sit in a box that violently shakes you, while watching a 3d thing not-in-time-with-the-shaking” is really vomit-inducing and yet feels like the only type of ride universal even have anymore. And, the Simpsons ride is the worst of them.

    Good riddance.

    Now do the Fast and the Furious. I was actually excited to see that, then I saw it, then I just wanted King Kong back.

  9. Ive seen to that part and it felt old and almost a sketch of old krusty amusement park. Best thing was the giant donut that took way took too long t9 get and sometimes had to wait to replenish 

  10. Universal has Nintendo World now (or whatever it’s called). They’ll be fine.

  12. No one cares about the Simpson any more. Harry Potter is dominating universal.

  13. I always laugh about how many Disney properties are at Universal now. All of their gift shops are making money for the Mouse. It’s unavoidable.

  14. Bill Morrison confirmed the ride was ending MONTHS AGO. Contract ran its course, and he also accidentally spilled the beans on what’s replacing The Simpsons Ride. I guess showrunner found out he’s not the main character?

  15. Honestly a lot of the old Universal lands are not aging well, and Simpsons was the worse last time I went.

  17. If Camp Snoopy can survive a transition to Nick Universe then I think Universal Studios will be ok

  18. I was pretty disappointed by Simpons world. The ride is outdated. Could be upgraded with some better quality video. All I wanted was a Duff beer. I sat down and had one and looked at the outdoor bartender and said “Coors Light?!” And he  just smiled. I was like shit. Duff beer is just whatever they decide to hook up that day. I don’t know what I expected but it wasn’t that. Imo if you’re going to Universal for Simpsons you’ll be disappointed too. It needs a severe upgrade to compete in today’s level of them park attractions. 

  19. I mean, I went last year and it was pretty much just the same as when I went about five years prior. It’s a bit stale. I do really want to go to the Epic Universe thing though. I love the Universal Monsters. And, yeah, I’d bet the Harry Potter stuff gets them much more bank than Simpsons does. (Granted, I do visit the Simpsons area whenever I go for a Krusty Burger.)

  20. Imagine Disneyland one day having a Simpsons section. Actually, on second thought it’d fit right in for California Adventure to have a Springfield area.

  23. If there’s any truth to the rumor that they’ll be replacing it with a Pokémon land then I think they’ll be ok losing the Simpsons. (Sounds like they want to copy the “Harry Potter at all parks” route with Nintendo with Pokemon/Simpsons and Zelda/Lost Continent)

  24. I have enjoyed the Simpson’s themed area at Universal Orlando. Further, I am tired of Disney owning seemingly everything. That said, Universal will be fine either way. Getting hyperbolic just makes him look self-aggrandizing.

  26. I love that I can drink at Moe’s and get a Krusty burger, even with the underwhelming design. ⛳️Born in the 80’s. How is Disney going to offer this type of experience?? I would be bummed if no such thing existed!

  27. I think Universal would be just fine if not better without The Simpsons ride. Didn’t it use to be the BACK TO THE FUTURE RIDE???? Do you have any idea how popular that would be to bring back?

  30. I was literally just at Universal and this is one of the least crowded parts of the park. I don’t think they’re going to lose anybody if it goes away. I know I wouldn’t be super upset about it.

  31. They are going to move away from IP they don’t own. Spielberg negotiated for a percentage of all park revenue, which is why you see Universal not keen on adding the Jurassic brand to developing theme parks. Spielberg has a less deal with Disney for Indiana Jones but I assume the reason you don’t see that ride at other parks is the same reason. Idk what The Simpsons deal is but they don’t wanna lose out on money when they have their own IP.

  32. They bumped rides I liked for that shit. I love the simpsons as a show but always resented the rides.

  33. Remember- the Simpsons ride replaced Back to the Future, one of the best theme park rides and an already Universal IP, because the ride was getting “too old”. The Simpsons ride has now been open longer than BTTF was
