  1. > “It’s very hard to understand a place like that. They just throw you in the water — you better know how to swim. They don’t give you no life jacket,” Johnson told PEOPLE at an official farewell party for the various cast members leaving the show held at New York City’s Riff Raff Club on Friday. The stand-up comedian, who left SNL after four seasons in 2024, described it as “a different monster, a different beast,” but maintained that it “builds something inside of you that makes you so strong.”

    > Troast, who, like Johnson, left SNL following season 49, but having starred on only a single season, shared that the experience “fundamentally changed” her life, but has been finding it “really hard” to adjust back to regular civilian life.

    > “You don’t get a cushion when you fall,” Troast said.

  2. People forget that just because you made it on SNL, your ticket is far from punched.

  3. They werent fired though, they were featured players. Their contracts just werent renewed. Punkie just never hit with me. I liked Chloe a bit more, but neither were a big loss, to me

  4. It gives you snl on your resume which means a little more than if you didn’t have it on there but that’s show business in a nutshell. You got the internet to show what you can do and you can circumvent the entire system of Hollywood. If you feel like snl is the top for you then you have to shift your perspective and outwork everyone in every facet.

  5. Chloe had amazing song “Get that boy back!” on SNL and she got fired? She was so funny. I loved her.0

  6. Being on SNL is an opportunity. It can either get you other work, or not. They got the opportunity and Robert Downey Junior didn’t bitch about it.

  7. I miss the good ole days when people left SNL and you never heard from them again.

  8. “you’re only as good as your last performance.” Show biz is rough if you’re not an A-lister.

  9. Cmon. Give her a break. I’m sure they work the cast and crew insanely long hours so if they want any kind of sleep they need a place in manhattan which is incredibly expensive. I doubt the rep players were making an excessive amount so it’s not crazy to think that when they got shelved it was a huge adjustment figuring out expenses and salary all over again.

  10. Why would they give any actor a life jacket? They are supposed to be professionals with talent.

  11. Snl hasn’t been funny for decades. There was a reddit post about a guy trying to figure out how to wash his ass with a knee injury that was funnier than anything snl has done in 20+years.

  12. Firemen and soldiers are reading this thinking “How do they do it? They’re so brave.”
