  1. Living the dream

But obviously it should stay a dream lol

  2. Good. He sounds like a complete idiot and I imagine a bit of a bully.

  3. You let the intrusive thoughts win.
Don’t envy teachers, obviously corporal punishments a no no.

So most kids learn about consequences?

  4. Pupil slaps teacher nothing happens, double standards.

  5. Bit silly really, emotions must have been high obviously a regular occurrence.

    Should have known better.

Don’t know why people want to be a teacher in today’s world must be horrendous in certain schools

  6. I mean…yeah? Is there any job (besides something like boxing) where you could hit someone and _not_ risk being sacked?

  7. My aunt was a teacher, got tripped by a student as she walked by as a “prank” and got a water bottle thrown at her face in another incident.

Both times the students did not get any trouble, she on the other hand was told to shut up and dont complain.

She finally decided to quit to go work abroad, the hod called her a traitor to the profession and was told shes not “a team player who cared about the school”

  8. Back in the ‘good old days’ if you got a slap off a teacher and went home and told your parents they’d give you a slap too for making the teacher slap you!!!

  9. Sort of the opposite of “You’re not wrong, just an asshole”.

  10. > The student who was hit said in a statement that another student “got picked to answer as he wasn’t paying attention. I laughed because he was struggling. Mr Aquilina came over to me, clapping, saying, ‘Well done.’ He then slapped me on the cheek.”

    > One pupil said: “I saw Mr Aquilina approach Pupil A and state to him: ‘If you’re being disrespectful, then I can too.’ Pupil A replied: ‘What have I done wrong? I only laughed’… Mr Aquilina then slapped Pupil A with his open left hand on the left cheek. This was a hard slap and I could hear it loudly from where I was sat.”

    > Notes of CCTV footage provided to the panel also supported the students’ accounts.

What a weird thread this is.

That child did something incredibly minor, and I guarantee the vast majority of people in this thread behaved similarly when they were children. And regardless, there is simply no excuse for an adult to slap a child.

Yet this thread is full of weird comments attempting to justify violence against children, and trying to exaggerate the behaviour of the child in order to support this. And it happens consistently in threads like this. Why are Redditors to desperate to justify violence against children? It really smacks of emotional immaturity.

  11. Real consequences for their actions? That’s a big no-no. They’ll learn about that when they’re older, when they’re in prison.

  12. I’m against corporal punishment

And yet there are a few classmates in the past, where I, as a teen, would’ve been like “yeah that lad had that coming”
