  1. For technic freaks like me the real beauty of this stage is the audio system. They know the real physical positions of the cast and distribute the sound via hundreds of speakers to the audience, so an actor standing on the left will be amplified so it is coming from the left, no matter where you sit. If you just would have a stereo setup and you are not in the middle columns this would not work.

They actually can position every sound they want whereever they need them to be. For example the orchestra is sitting in an extra room somewhere else, and every instrument is also rendered as if the orchestra would be in close range to the stage. you can easily find videos about that on youtube.

  2. My girlfriend worked there( her uncle is CFO of the theater). The clown has been replaced with the new requisites. Every 2 years the played opera changes. Same as cast.

As for her: she really enjoyed her tasks and during the events she was even allowed to fly with the balloon which is implemented in the left fist (they reached ~50m height above ground)

Whenever they change requisites some of the materials are given away to whoever wants them. So sometimes when going through gardens in Vorarlberg you can see statues and stuff that once belonged to the opera

  3. Wasn’t that opera a location in one of the more recent James Bond’s? Looks strangely familiar.
