Following an explicit order from the US president to stop the bombing, the Israeli prime minister’s office announced Saturday that it is preparing to end its aggressive activities. In light of Hamas’s response, Israel is preparing to immediately implement the first phase of Trump’s plan for the immediate release of all hostages. Hamas on Friday partially agreed to the plan put forward by Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu last week. Pivotally, they have said they will hand over the remaining 48 hostages, some 20 of whom are believed to be alive. They are to be exchanged with 250 life sentence Palestinian prisoners, plus 1,700 people from Gaza who have been detained by Israel since October 7th. However, the group says details need to be worked out. First of all, the procedures of the exchange of prisoners in terms of the numbers, the preparation of the appropriate environment for the release of the bodies, the stopping of the aggression in order for us to be able to withdraw the Israelis from the areas, the return of the people of Palestine, and to allow aid to enter. Hamas has said it will surrender its governing power in the Gaza Strip, but did not confirm what role it hopes to play. Israel and its allies, however, are adamant that they will not be part of any future administration. The militant group has also not agreed to disarm, but when pushed by Al Jazzer, a spokesperson said they would hand over their weapons to whoever rules the territory. The concessions will likely prove highly contentious at Israel’s next cabinet meeting slated for Sunday.

Israel’s army said it would advance preparations for the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza and return all the remaining hostages. The news came after Israel launched dozens of air strikes and artillery attacks on Gaza City overnight, Gaza’s civil defence agency said.
