Yank here to commiserate. It is abysmal what the cordoned spaces of social medias has wrought. I hope for a correction but see no light in the tunnel. Here in America the traps have all been set. All easily triggered by the slightest dog whistle. Seemingly the only hope a coup d’etat. That in itself is horribly depressing.
It’s the media methods. People get so swamped with information they block out what they don’t want. Kahn’s been objectively good for London and Starmer, despite all the bad, has done a lot of good. Let’s not argue about the balance, that’s something requiring fair and reasonable debate, which isn’t what this is about. But these terrified little daisies can’t even spare the headspace to hear it anymore. It’s deeply patronising, but I do feel sorry for them.
It’s about time the grownup media started reporting news again and not just sensationalism. That would absolutely help.
