When Dynamic Automotive first opened its doors in 1995, it was a one-location repair shop founded by three auto mechanics with a shared vision: treat customers like family, and invest in employees like they’re owners. Three decades later, that vision is still driving the company forward.

Recently named the 2025 CO—100 Top Honoree in the Enduring Businesses category and also earning the title of CO—100 Top Business of 2025, this Frederick County, Maryland-based company has expanded to seven full-service locations with nearly 60 employees and over 1,300 five-star reviews. While growth is part of the story, the heart of Dynamic Automotive lies in its lasting commitment to people—both inside and outside the company.

Investing in and empowering team members from day one

Co-owner and CEO Dwayne Myers, a master technician turned executive leader, knows firsthand what it takes to thrive in the trades, including how to retain great employees in a tight labor market.

“By trusting our people, being honest about the challenges [of the industry], and investing in respectful, hands-on training, we … retained talented individuals who now help train the next generation,” said Myers, who highlighted the company’s focus on investing in employee development.

New hires at Dynamic Automotive receive a full introduction to the company’s open-book management philosophy, as well as personalized growth plans and leadership opportunities.

“We put effort into their development, and as they have improved and stayed with us, they’ve helped us grow into much more than … [my] two business partners [and I] could have ever done on our own,” Myers explained.

“All day-to-day operations are completely run by our team,” he added. “We … advise and guide them, but my main job as CEO is just to develop our leadership team. They take care of everything else.”

Even as new tools and technologies emerge, the company stays grounded in its long-established core values, which are infused in everything it does.

“Our foundation of trust, honesty, respect, education, and community keeps us grounded, focused, and future-ready,” Myers said.

Building strong, long-term customer and community relationships

Dynamic Automotive’s longevity is also rooted in its commitment to the community. Over the years, the company has developed partnerships with Frederick County schools, local nonprofits, and technical training programs to introduce students to the automotive field and create future job opportunities.

Each shop regularly participates in charity events and community fundraisers. One recent initiative included the donation of a van to a local nonprofit, completely refurbished by Dynamic’s technicians and staff.

The company’s customer service approach has earned it a loyal following as well. Myers describes Dynamic Automotive as relationship-focused, which means taking the time to explain repairs, providing accurate estimates, and maintaining a consistent presence in the communities they serve.

“One of our main taglines is, ‘Where customers become friends,’” he told CO—. “It is very important to us that we build those relationships. We believe those relationships break down barriers of trust, which has been a major problem in our industry.”

Planning and resilience drive decades-long success and growth

While some small businesses are content to stay at their current size, Dynamic Automotive continues to expand. In recent years, the company has added new shop locations, broadened its service offerings, and refined its internal systems to operate more efficiently.

Myers attributes that success to responsible financial planning and a willingness to evolve, which has contributed to Dynamic Automotive’s resilience over the last 30 years.

“We maintain strong financial discipline, consistently saving for economic downturns so we can retain staff and stay steady during slow periods,” explained Myers. “By thinking long-term, staying people-focused, and remaining adaptable, we’ve built a business model that’s both resilient and ready for what’s next.”
