Honestly so fuck if she went to an orange march,
While I dont agree with them mostly because of how many marches they have in a year for one battle yet talk about ” waste”
But being opposed to a fox hunting ban would actually stop me voting for her.
We have had two Protestant presidents before. The Orange order exists to promote Protestant supremacy in Ireland, end of.
Not all Protestants in Ireland are in the Orange order- this is a lazy comparison.
Edit: Corrected per the nice folks below 🙂
Kind of sad to go to the bother of making an attack poster, we already have too many support posters to be dumped after the election.
Where is the lie?
Not any more than it is anti-Semitic to oppose Zionism
If a Protestant with such close ties to the Orange order was to become president of Ireland then perhaps it would help persuade some of the Northern Brethern that a United Ireland wouldn’t be too bad after all.
Smearing someone in this way is sectarian.
This is one of the key issues with reunification imo. Unionist culture wants to have its place secured in the future, but wont admit that it’s culture is the problem.
Offended by facts, facts that as a nationalist I wouldn’t even find offensive
Who in their right mind wants to fox hunt. Serious fucking wrong uns
They should’ve put her into a cryogenic sleep until a UI happens so she could collect the angry brethren’s votes.
If she can’t do 10 keepy-uppies and shoot some B-Ball outside of the school, then I wouldn’t vote for her tbh
Where’s this?

This is a shitty poster. Upvoting this post only amplifies the shittiness.
I say, take down the poster and take down the post.
Fox hunting? Nope, bye Heather. Not getting my vote.
All I see is they’ve just listed a bunch of facts, not sectarian lmao
Why is that every media loudmouth who supports Unionism is an utter cunt?
I’ve never heard of her but looked up her wikipedia and it says she attended as a child with her dad and stopped attending them when the troubles broke out? It also say’s she’s an Irish republican. The Fox funding thing sure, that’s shitty but seems harsh to make out she’s an orange order supporter because of her parents.
Her husband left the orange order 50 years ago.
The event in drum isn’t organised by the orange order neither is it a parade. The only official orange order parade in the republic is in Rossnowlagh Donegal which from my knowledge she has never attended.
Heather Humphreys is on record about wanting to build towards a united ireland in 2016 and has echoed those sentiments in recent debates.
Tbh if someone from a unionist background as milquetoast as Heather Humphreys gets you riled up you may just be a sectarian bigot.
If Heather Humphreys background pisses you off then maybe you’re not serious about uniting but rather annexing and that’s ok to admit.
It’s ok to still not support heather but don’t act as if she’s this crazed sectarian bigot.
I mean..
Catherine Connolly loves to pose as the conscience of the nation but her record shows something else entirely. She hired a convicted gun criminal into her Dáil office and called it rehabilitation when everyone else saw it as reckless. She insists she is not equivocal on Hamas then turns around and says they are part of Gaza’s political fabric. That is not courage, that is classic fence-sitting.
Her Labour saga is just as cynical. She stormed out when they would not back her, played the martyr for years as a lone wolf, and now soaks up their blessing like nothing happened. The pious act is paper thin.
Worse still is the sectarian dog-whistling. In a campaign poster aimed at rival candidate Heather Humphreys she dredged up old fault lines, playing on identity politics to smear rather than debate. For someone who parades around as a unifier, it was a cheap and nasty move that showed exactly how she is willing to operate when the gloves come off.
And then there is her grand promise of one term only. It sounds virtuous but it is just another gimmick, a way to look saintly while keeping an escape hatch open. Softly, softly, catchy monkey. Connolly talks like a healer while inching her way toward power by any means available…
Even though it’s a toothless ceremonial role – it does come with a platform of sorts. Handing that to a perceived (in certain quarters ) checkered personality of connolly’s track record of bad judgement and fork-tongued speech seems.. a recipe for embarrassment and blunder. It’s for the Southern electorate to determine though..
Non ironically seems to have chosen a red White and blue election background which is odd for the republic.
I actually think her experience within both traditions is a major plus, but herself and FG are failing to use it as that.
She is fully committed to the Irish republic and has a long track record of quality public service and is a known states woman, I think that’s the qualifications required for the job. If I’d a vote I’d vote for Humph.
And for clarity yes the orange order are sectarian pricks but show me one person that hasn’t done something or gone someplace they aren’t proud of, or swept up in rebel songs in a bar late at night. People make mistakes that they may at one time have been committed too, it’s what we do with that experience that is the measure of the (wo) man.
The fox hunt legislation was a shambles, SF also voted against. There’s nothing to see on that font.
Couldn’t give less of a shite about her orange order connections, it’s of no real relevance. The opposition to fox hunting and hare coursing bans is very concerning though.
Should have AI’d an image of fox hunters on horseback wearing orange sashes, or a parade of fox hunters.

No proddies allowed in our new Ireland
It’s a pretty poor attack line, certainly.
