October the 9th, 2025 – Excellent Croatian tourism growth has been recorded during the month of September, with growth above 5% seeing experts hail it as the “best”.
As Poslovni Dnevnik/Zrinka Gabelica Toplek writes, Croatian tourism recorded an increase in traffic, arrivals and overnight stays of over 5% in September compared to the same month last year. This growth provides a strong tailwind for the continuation of the record tourism year, according to Tourism Minister Tonči Glavina.
“So far, we’ve recorded about two percent more arrivals and one percent more overnight stays than last year. The growth was not only achieved in the summer months, but also in the pre-season, and now it continues in the post-season in September,” said Glavina at the conference “Can Croatia have sustainable tourism?” organised by the Croatian Society for Corporate Governance and Management. Glavina then went onto reveal his belief that Croatia is now finally heading towards year-round tourism.

Istria was designated the “champion of September” with the best tourism results of all, while Kvarner, Dalmatia and the continental part of Croatia also recorded some very encouraging figures. The minister emphasised that the transformation of Croatian tourism into a year-round affair aims to reduce the burden of summer seasonality and develop tourism for all seasons, with a simultaneous increase in revenue and profitability.
Regarding the criticism related to the law on spatial planning, the minister explained that the law is in the process of being adopted and that the public consultation has been completed. The government is now in the process of harmonising positions and preparing for the first reading in the Croatian Parliament. “I believe that the final solution will be in the interest of Croatian tourism and all stakeholders,” Glavina concluded.
These positive trends and promising growth in Croatian tourism is also confirmed by data from the Croatian National Bank (CNB/HNB), which has been recording handsome growth in foreign tourist revenues of more than five percent in the second quarter of 2025, as well as a continuous increase in arrivals and overnight stays throughout the whole year. The minister called on the tourism sector to set its prices far more wisely for the next season, emphasising the importance of price competitiveness and quality in attracting guests as Croatia has plenty of competition across the Mediterranean. The achieved results and plans for the future position Croatia as a sustainable and attractive year-round tourist destination on the global stage.
