During the night of October 9, Russia launched an attack on the Odesa region using drones, causing several fires. According to preliminary data from the State Emergency Service of the Odesa region, the fires occurred in two residential buildings, the administrative building of a gas station, and on the territory of a port infrastructure facility. Initially, five people were injured and require medical assistance.
The fires affected various objects: containers with vegetable oil, vehicles, and fuel pellets located in a warehouse were burning. Firefighters are working at the scene to quickly contain the fire and prevent its spread.
Four private houses were damaged; the energy infrastructure was also affected – more than 30 thousand subscribers were left without electricity. The mayor of Chornomorsk, Vasyl Huliaev, noted that critical infrastructure is currently operating on generators; power supply in the community is absent, except for the village of Burlacha Balka; specialists from DTEK are working on restoration.
In the region, Points of Invincibility have been deployed and humanitarian aid is being coordinated for residents. Firefighters and emergency services continue to eliminate the consequences and ensure the safety of the population.
More than 83 rescuers, 18 units of firefighting equipment, one firefighting robot, as well as four volunteers and one fire truck have been involved in the response. The situation is under control; authorities urge residents to follow official information sources and avoid panic.
