  1. “The jury late on Monday ordered J&J to pay $16 million in compensatory damages and $950 million in punitive damages, according to court filings.

The verdict could be reduced on appeal as the US Supreme Court has found that punitive damages should generally be no more than nine times compensatory damages.”

From 950 down to 144. J&J will appeal, no way they want to be out almost a billion dollars.

  2. So have they gotten rid of talc from their powders now or not?

  3. How am I not involved in getting a cut of this money but a lawyer a week contracts me about some bullshit reasons

  4. They owe a lot more to people. Absolute scum bags. I knew someone who on their deathbed had to sign and settle to get money for his family while on hospice.

  5. My grandmother used their baby powder with talc in it everyday and we are pretty sure it’s what gave her cancer and killed her. My grandfather has been hoping to get something from J&J from this verdict because he knows it’s what killed her. Fuck J&J.

  6. Has there been any credible studies that have established a firm link to cancer from use of their baby powder?

The first few times these lawsuits came up the science did not support their claims. Has something changed recently?

  7. I thought J&J divested the division and filed for bankruptcy so they only need to effectively pay $966?

  8. The supreme court is also protecting big businesses.

  9. And these were making Tylenol until 2023 btw…

This is one of tens of settlements they had to pay.

  10. Things like this should ruin a company into going out of business. However, it won’t. Some workers will be laid off, the executives and management who knew about it won’t face any consequences.

  11. I wish this case came to Australia. My mum was a big talc powder user and died of ovarian cancer at 62, way too young.
