WANA (Oct 09) – The President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq said on Wednesday that the Region will not allow any military action against Iran to be carried out from its soil.
“We do not want to be a source of threat to Iran; this is the policy of the Kurdistan Region,” he stated.
According to reports, Barzani added, “Iran is one of our important neighbors. We share a long border with Iran, and we have never wanted, nor do we want, our relations with Iran to be harmed.”
He emphasized that the Kurdistan Region will not permit any group to take action against Iran from its territory.
Commenting on Iraq’s upcoming elections, Barzani said: “I believe the forthcoming elections are very important; after the 2005 elections, this is one of the most important elections in Iraq.”
