The City of Asheville is pleased to announce that the Wall Street Parking Garage will officially reopen to the public by Saturday, October 11, following the successful completion of vital structural repairs.

The community’s patience and cooperation throughout this critical repair project have been fundamental to completing the repairs in an efficient manner. This work ensures the safety and longevity of the garages for years to come. The completion of the repairs fulfills the City’s commitment to have all four parking garages fully open for peak leaf season.

While the main structural work is complete, minor work will continue, specifically focused on the elevator landings. Users of the garage should be aware that some minor construction activities may still be visible near the elevator areas. The Wall Street Garage will remain open and accessible during this ongoing, less disruptive phase of work.

“We are pleased to have completed this essential work, which was vital for public safety and the continued operation of one of our key downtown assets,” said Ashley Haire, City of Asheville Transportation Director. “We sincerely thank all residents, businesses, and visitors for their patience and understanding throughout the full closure period. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to our fully open parking garages this weekend.”

Permit holders, in addition to the general public, can resume normal parking at the Wall Street Garage by October 11. Permit holders in the Wall Street Garage will be provided a two week grace period to readjust, with those passes allowing access to park in any City garage through October 24.

Updates on the final completion of the elevator work will be provided by email to those who have signed up for updates on the project page.

What’s Next for the City’s Parking Garage Capital Improvements Project
High priority updates will continue when warmer temperatures allow in the Harrah’s Cherokee Center Garage and the Biltmore Avenue Garage. After the current phase is complete, the final phase will begin. This phase will address updates identified as medium priority, specifically focusing on code compliance, wayfinding, and aesthetic improvements.
