I guess, as almost every mild inconvenience it's because of homeless people? But why do they close so early? 19:00 starting next week

And who even enforces it?

  1. Keep a lid on late parties and groups gathering?
    Stop homeless folks camping out?

  2. Probably homeless people sleeping there, drug users who leave needles around. I essentially think it would be to protect people from walking through there and getting attacked etc.

  3. In Ireland, in St. Stephen’s Green, they’ve had the same opening hours since the 1800s.

It’s a traditional methodology but basically if you see the times are “coincidentally linked” with particular times of the year and quite specific dates, yes?

Long story short, after dark it’s dangerous to be in a park and people shouldn’t be there hence the park is closed for public safety. Also, yes, it can be to do with drug dealers but there were worse crimes being committed in parks back then.

To respond to other comments, no, it has nothing to do with homeless people. There are people out there with wonderful houses, nice cars and doing quite well in life who destroy parks with their malevolent behviour.
I’ve seen clearly non-homeless human animals in the likes of McDonalds, Quick and Burger King or on the streets with all of their fast-food litter everywhere compared to homeless people who actually clean up after themselves.
Take a look at the Infinity Shopping Centre in Kirchberg on a Thursday night after the après-work event. You’ll understand what disgusting behaviour non-homeless people get up to and how they leave a place looking afterwards.

In Dublin, a very common way for kids to “know when to come home” was when the streetlights came on. It meant it’s too dark, too dangerous, time to get back to ma (mom) before she “tears da head of ya”.

Same concept, different age group, adult version.
