I am glad he did that. We are sick of Erdo-gone and his islamic impositions.
A Kurdish-Armenian man who was prosecuted in turkey
Amen to that
Good for him
Burn more of them, we shouldn’t be afraid to exercise our free speech for an oppressive, foreign religion.
Good. We should not let any religion trump our freedoms! Even more when that religion supresses individual freedoms and wants to impose its medieval way of life in secular democracies!
Türkiye should do that too; Anyone can burn the book of the minorities!
The article doesn’t mention that, upon witnessing the burning of a Koran, a passer-by went and retrieved a knife, and then tried to stab Mr Coskun.
“Moussa Kadri, 59, saw Hamit Coskun setting alight the text and shouted: “I’m going to kill you” before slashing at him with a knife.
He later told police he was protecting his religion, Southwark Crown Court heard.
Judge Adam Hiddleston handed Kadri a *20-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.*” (From BBC)
That’s right, folks, you can try and stab someone for insulting Islam in the UK, and receive zero jail time, while a woman made some mean tweets on Twitter and was sentenced to 18 months.
Two-tier, indeed.
Amazing news! Good for him
As a Turk, I am elated.
Atatürk is on video referring to the Quran as a book that allegedly came down from the sky, and says his values are not derived from its dogmas but from life itself.
Props to my fellow Turk for burning that horrible book!
At this point, even British justice is like: ‘We’ve run out of teabags, so here’s an appeal instead.’ 🇬🇧☕️
this is a good news for democracy
Based!
What’s going on in the UK?
Free Speech Union is a great thing.
You pay a subscription fee each year, and that money is used to pay for legal defenses and appeals for guys like this.
I have wrongfully read “Man who burned a **Korean**” and was like “WTF ? Free speech ?”
This should apply not only to islam but all religions if its free speech.
Kind of related, my auntie who lived in Türkiye in 1978 witnessed the aggression and violence by far right ultranationalist groups targeting Alevi citizens and leftists, resulting in over 100 deaths. Far right religious Islamist’s indiscriminately butcher pregnant women. Alevi’s were targeted frequently in the name of religion and far right motivation, so honestly for me personally, I would be fully agreement of burning the Quran.
Good. dont protect holy texts, or it empowers the fanatics
