  1. Texas is going to bail out the renewable industry the next few years – great resources and no federal land

  2. There’s just no just reason to do this unless you want less jobs for construction workers

  3. I develop these types of projects in the Midwest, on largely conventional ag land. The amount of times opponents have told me “why can’t you go build these things in the desert”.

Apparently even that pisses off the Orange Buffoon

  4. It’s possible to still do some of the phases but on private land. They’ll be hoping by 2028 a different administration will let them use public land for the other phases.

  5. Pretty crazy too that they give no reason. Even if the project goes through, it’ll have a chilling effect on investment in the US. My hope would be that all industries condemn this move, or that when a Democratic is back in the White House they also unilaterally cancel projects they don’t like to send a message.

  6. You can’t build an oil refinery in less that 5 years (being generous on that) so how does Trump expect our current refining capabilities that are at 100% already. Oh wait that means they get to charge more, got it..

  7. Thank goodness, the last thing this country needs is more of the most cost effective energy! Coal baby coal, it’s the future! It’s all computer!

  8. Well, according to some guy there apparently is something called “clean coal”. Of course that guy is batshit crazy.

  9. I guess Republicans forgot that they wanted US to be “energy independent” even though they ran on that 4 years ago lol.

MAGA stands for nothing. What a joke party

  10. good thing we had a revolution to get rid of a king, as we don’t want a single person to be in charge of decisions like this, amirite??

also, the project is run by NextEra Energy Resources, Leeward Renewable Energy, Arevia Power and Invenergy, and I don’t recall Trump being the CEO of any of those private companies….

so how exactly is he cancelling anything?

  11. Meanwhile, Trump’s admin claims were in an energy emergency.

  12. Why are we allowing this? I would just tell turmp admins off at this point if I was that state.

  13. Esmeralda 7 solar project, a Nevada-based project that would stand among the world’s largest solar power plants, large enough to power nearly 2 million homes.

  14. The USA is governed by idiots and the citizens will have to pay the price for many decades.

  15. Our global economic rival China is adding solar power equivalent to the total generation of the massive Three Rivers hydroelectric dam every three months. Inexpensive, renewable energy which they will use to manufacture even less expensive solar panels. Trump is ceding energy dominance to China. We here in the US will become a second tier economic power, and the consequence will be our becoming a second tier military power, because of this administration’s lack of strategic vision.

  16. If the project depended on government spending for success, then that’s probably for the best. Let “clean energy” stand on its own merits. If it’s truly the low-cost, efficient way to provide consumers with power, then it will win in the marketplace. If it’s not, then the extra spending is discretionary, and a good place to reduce government expenditures.

Let producers be lightly regulated, let consumers have choice, and let the market adjudicate the reality.

  17. But of course, if it’s a stupid thing to do trust the Trump administration to take that action.

  18. Did I read this correctly: the US contribution to this was BLM land, and not tax dollars?

  19. Trump: Prices are too high, we need to lead in AI, and we’re having an energy emergency.

Everyone: Our electric bills are skyrocketing.

AI: We will take electricity from anything that can generate it, we’ll pay a premium for it, even more for green sources, and we’ll even pay for it 10 years in advance.

Trump: There was a windmill near one of my golf courses once, so I will vindictively kill any wind or solar project.

    Everyone: WTF?

  20. This is what it feels like to be governed by a king. This is what our forefathers revolted against.

  21. He makes decisions based on his political hate. Or he is basically putting America behind on purpose per daddy Putin’s instructions. Now sure how this is way forward.

  22. More jobs killed. Less power to grid so rates up. And why?

  23. Less energy independence, higher costs, more pollution and fewer jobs.

Yep, sounds about right for republicans…
