  1. He’s really scared to let those files get released. They must be catastrophic.

  2. “Well I would swear in that new Democrat any time she wants.”

    “Let’s do it now.”

    “SHUT IT DOWN!”

  3. Anything he can do to protect those pedophiles.

Mike Johnson is a prime example of a False Christian, idolater and worshipper of Trump ~ America’s Golden Calf.

  4. Isn’t he the one who should be trying to get the shutdown to end?

  5. Apparently, the protection of pedophiles is the number one concern right now for the GOP, the House of Representatives, and Mike Johnson.

Why are you all working so hard to prevent the release of the Epstein files?

  6. If the house is closed then keep that weasel off my screen.

  7. This seems like a really stupid play to say publicly even for a moron like Johnson. Now if he comes back to hold a vote on paying the troops (which Jeffries supports) he looks like he caved.

  8. I hope that Speaker Johnson receives all the pressure that can be given to him from his constituents, the Representatives, Trump. I don’t think he can handle if everyone keeps pulling at him.

    >The House was scheduled to be in for four days next week, beginning Tuesday. But GOP leaders announced Friday that the Tuesday session has been canceled, and Johnson’s remarks suggest the other three days will follow if the government remains closed.

What makes this decision really risky for him, is that the 15th is on Wednesday – the day the military is supposed to get paid. Though I just saw on a live update website:

    https://www.cbsnews.com/live-updates/government-shutdown-live-updates-as-military-poised-to-miss-first-paychecks-next-week/

    >Scalise says White House “exploring” options to pay troops
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, a Louisiana Republican, told reporters Friday that President Trump is “exploring” options to pay troops during the shutdown.
    >
    > “I know the White House is looking at options,” Scalise told reporters. “President Trump wants to find ways to help get troops paid, and if there’s a way that they can do that, he’s exploring those options right now.”
    >
    > House GOP leaders have resisted putting a standalone bill on the floor that has bipartisan support to ensure service members are paid.
    >
    > Scalise said there’s a deadline in three days, on Oct. 13, to find a solution before service members miss their Oct. 15 paycheck.
    >
    > “That’s the date a lot of administrative folks tell us is the magic date to get the government back open again,” he said.
    >
    > Neither the House or Senate have plans to return until after the deadline.

Just amazing – they really hate healthcare that much? I Have to admit I was confused when I saw during the election season the ads for Trump that said people will pay less in taxes to have money to buy healthcare. That confused me. Now I understand – they planned on killing ACA or defunding it so people go back to paying out of pocket at super duper unaffordable rates when Ground beef is $10 a pound and produce is up because tariffs.

  9. >”We will not debate anything until we have a debate.”

  10. So the country is being held hostage over the Epstein files.

  11. I’m literally waiting for Johnson to just say “No, we’re not having a vote. Fuck your discharge petition. What are you going to do about it?”

Because so far, every time someone has said “No, and what are you going to do about it?”, the answer has been a whole hell of a lot of “Nothing.” So before anyone says “Johnson can’t just ignore a discharge petition!”, if the only thing people do about him ignoring a discharge petition is huff and puff and say “you can’t do that”, then yes. Yes, he can and will ignore a discharge petition if the people who have the power to do something about it either can’t or won’t do it. I’ve heard the “Trump can’t do that!” and “They can’t do that!” line so many times only to watch them go ahead, do it anyway, get no pushback, and face no consequences too many times for it to be even remotely believable any more.

If those in power are either unable or unwilling to stop the Trump administration, then they absolutely can and will do whatever they want. Words on a really old piece of paper are not going to stop anybody from doing anything if there is nobody willing or able to actually enforce those words, and believing that “They can’t do that” just because it’s against the law at this point in this administration is just the height of naivete and at this point borders on copium.

  12. So, we pay them to not go to work while they refuse to pay us to go to work?

  13. Hey Arizonans! What do you plan on doing with all the tax money you’ll be saving since you no longer have representation?

  14. How can the house vote on a budget to end the shutdown if it is closed? Is he just finally admitting that article 1 is dead?

  15. He’s trying to leverage the Democrats effort to vote on Epstein files to get them to give in on ACA subsidies.

This shutdown won’t last forever. Hold your ground Democrats. Get the subsidies back, and then vote to bring the files to light.

  16. How do you end the shutdown without the house?

Call the bluff Dems. They’ll cave.

  17. EVERY Republican up for reelection in 2026 should be voted out of office. Every. Single. One.

  18. How’s the shutdown going to end of the house isn’t there to vote?

  19. Not coming to work is not typically how shutdowns are resolved.

  20. They know it’s all over when the files are exposed….

  21. The fact that he’s not going to even try to score cheap points by holding a vote to at least keep paying the military says all you need to know about how truly desperate he is to keep a lid on those files.

  22. So, it *is* a Republican shutdown. Hmm…funny how that worked out

  23. Anything to avoid the Epstein files. We know Johnson’s sponsor is in the files, but could Johnson be in them too?

  24. They are playing videos in all airports at TSA checkpoints of Kristi Noem saying the government shutdown is the democrat’s fault. These people are clearly in the wrong and they are desperate.

  25. Wouldn’t want those Epstein files getting out now, would we?

  26. Well at least they can’t pass any legislation. Always remembers EOs only last as long as that executive lasts. A stroke of a pen can end them all. Legislation is much harder to overcome. A very small win in this utterly terrible era of American governance.

  27. Or until everyone agrees to never mention the Epstein Files again.

  28. No swearing in of new Congresswoman.
    No release of Epstein files.

  29. … but… don’t they need to vote on something to reopen it?

  30. What about all those TSA and air traffic controllers and military members that are being asked to just “step up” and keep working because we rely on them?

    What an asshole.

  31. WTF are we paying these people ? Release the Epstein files

  32. But they’re still getting paid, unlike every other federal employee.

  33. Wait just a min…let me get this right.

The house will remain closed until the shutdown ends.

But…but…but…the shutdown can’t end unless the house opens. The house has to open to to session to vote on the bill to end the shutdown.

Therefore the shutdown can’t ever end under this speaker since a vote would require the house to open and per the Speakers words the house will remain closed until the government shutdown ends.

Talk about putting the carriage before the horse.

  34. Imagine the president of the United States telling the speaker of the house “make sure she doesn’t get sworn in. I don’t care how, make sure it does not happen.”

That is the situation at this time. Mike Johnson is choosing blind loyalty over his oath to the constitution and democracy.

  35. People say that he’s protecting Trump. Maybe it’s more than Trump. Maybe it’s others as well. Powerful people who are (at worst) pulling Trump’s strings or (at best) colleagues of Trump.

  36. They all need to loose their pay! Every last one of these Human Trafficking, Pedophile harboring, Nazi’s!!
