  1. Most immigrants, regardless of origin, are like that.

They almost always contribute more than they use.

But, that goes against xenophobic anti-immigrant propaganda, so it’s usually ignored or denied.

  2. Ukrainians working legally in Poland pay more into the national health fund than they cost — over 3.8 billion zł in contributions versus 2.2 billion zł in treatment expenses. Meanwhile, Polish farmers in KRUS chip in pennies while the state budget picks up the tab. So remind me again: who’s really “milking the system”?

  3. In case of polish healthcare it seems like most people put more in then they get out..

  4. Most people in Society pay way more than they use most of the years in their life by paying into the social security/health insurance system in their respective country. And you should be happy for it, because it means you are healthy enough to work and pay those premiums. The time may come where you are on the receiving end of the system. It might happen in many years or if unlucky tomorrow.
( I know demographics can put an undue burden on the younger classes right now, essentially the healthy group getting too small and the people needing care too large. )

  5. Actually Ukrainian immigrants are a gift for Poland. The best immigrants possible. Ofc there are some troubles here n there, but definitely first class ppl, if you compare them to what sort of immigration west EU have

  6. Now show data for most Poles. I haven’t used public health system since 8 or 9 years excluding Covid shots and I’m paying taxes too, lots of stories like mine.

  7. I mean refugees are mostly young working class people who aren’t likely to be all that sick in the first place. It’s when the average person gets old that they’re a burden on the system

  8. This is not up to debate really, it’s a fact. The reason why people are disappointed is that healthcare system did not scale – sure, people pay more in total if you add it up, but the queues for treatment are also longer, and this is why people are complaining.

  9. This is just propaganda.

Nearly all of the resources in healthcare are spent on the elderly, i would imagine ukrainians in poland on average are not very old.

  10. To be honest, it would be better for Ukrainian immigrants/refugees to settle somewhere else, but not in Poland. And it would be better for both: Ukrainian and Polish people.

Hear me you before downvoting. Thing is, that the huge number of people in Poland (I’m not talking about 5-10%, but more like 50%) actually hate Ukrainians regardless of what they do:

    – economical immigration as high-skilled worker? how dare you stealing their jobs?!
    – refugee single mother with few kids? how dare you milking out our welfare?!
    – young Ukrainian men drinking in a bar? how dare you hiding from war in our safe country?!
    – old Ukrainian grandpa walking in a park? how dare you stealing our pension?!

It’s really hard to live in a country where every 2nd or 3rd local hate you. So for Ukrainians, Poland is not the best options. And it’s actually possible to receive much better wages for doing the same job somewhere in the Western/Central Europe. Or move to sunny Spain/Portugal where locals wouldn’t care where are you from as long as you don’t cause any troubles.

I see it as a win-win situation for both Ukrainian and Polish people.

  11. Oh an article about how european allies dont treat each other right, how very putin-bot of you to post this.

  12. This is true for virtually all migrants in virtually all countries.

Immigrants contribute more to a society than they take. Especially in the long term.

There are dozens of long term studies showing this fact.

  13. This is most likely true. The people who use the most healthcare is elderly who prone to have more health problems. The younger people who are working also contribute more to the pot than they take out unless they have chronic health problems.

  14. two interesting reports. I do want to hear from poles and their experiences on being interacting with Ukrainians.
