The mainstream Greek press quickly rushed to their PM’s defense launching a vicious smear campaign against the Dutch journalist, calling her a Turkish propagandist, attacking her personally, etc.
Tbf, she was rude. There were several videos on her and she was relentless on arguments she could not provide proof for. The PM of Greece said, IIRC, “if you come to the this place, you will not insult me”. And he was right. She was way out of line. It’s one thing to ask direct question but to make allegations and then interrupting when your question being answered… Thin ice.
Also, she has a criminal case against her. Also she house illegal immigrants in her house in Greece.
So, that “lady in red” (red mask/red hat) should be thread lightly. She’s not the victim here. Neither is the PM of Greece.
“alleged”…should’ve been “well documented”
Interesting. This story did not make the news in the Netherlands. Next to that, she is more an activist than a journalist. She is Dutch, but living in Greece for years. This is not Dutch directness, just rudeness of an activist.
wait your PM can get asked by journalist? Even foreign journalists? HOW
Those pushbacks might be uncivilized but the Greeks are desperate because Europe (and especially Rutte/the Netherlands) doesn’t wanna help them with the refugee crisis. I don’t blame that journalist, or even the Greek PM, I blame the Dutch government for those pushbacks.
>gets furious
Well rightfully so. Also, least reposted post in r/Europe
@OP
You know the media in Greece are pro-German and act accordingly, right? And the government far-right fascists shitheads and ALSO pro-German.
Per capita Germany has more refugees? Are you mad? First of all, refugees and immigrants are not the same thing. Secondly, statistics take into account only people with official documents. Guess how many don’t have. Thirdly, as long as your country controls the statistics and everything inside the EU, every is in your favour and you, as a German, live in a bubble. Meanwhile, many Greek islands have more immigrants than local citizens, their houses and families get pillaged and they lost their only income they had left – tourism.
Also. Start judging your own country ffs, which is backing up and is selling weaponry to Turkey for ages for it to train terrorists, declare wars, abuse and level every other country around it, producing immigrants; Armenia, Iraq, Syria, Cyprus, Greece, Libya and so on and so forth. 200.000 Kurds were killed during the last f year because of your policies. Germany is the number one responsible country after Turkey and the US for the immigration. Your weapons kill and displace these people every day. And your down payment is the funds from the EU for the refugees given to Turkey. It is money laundering. Germans and Turks are also behind the horrible trafficking. It’s a multi-billion dollar market and the third biggest market in Turkey. And you have the audacity to judge the ones who are getting fucked up and who save people every single day. If you care about the refugees fund their countries, which you destroyed, and let the people rebuild them.
Lastly, most of the “refugees” through Turkey you are referring to are 20-30 yo TURKMEN, ex-militias, NOT FAMILIES, who lost the war against Assad and are coming in the EU to be used by the likes of YOUR PARTNERS IN CRIME as tools to destabilise first of all Greece and make another Syria. And nowadays they get to Greece – and not to central Europe – through BULGARIA. Bypassing the Greco-Turkish borders. For no reason whatsoever.
Stop judging when you have no idea of what you are talking about. Unless you are a pro-Turk.
Imagine a Greek journalist going to the Dutch PM and accusing him of alleged racist and xenophobic practices against immigrants and not letting him defend himself or provide any proof for this accusations. How would the Dutch PM react?
This “journalist” illegally hid illegal immigrants in her home after their asylum applications were rejected, meaning they were definitely not refugees.
She has an ongoing criminal case for that.
See also, according to what i can read online, will face more charges after going mad against the politicians in her island calling them nazis and golden dawn and criminals etc…. generally publically accused them of a lot and she will have to answer for the slanderous claims.
And outside of all that. We have this incident, where she is insulting and not just asking a question politely (regardless of how harsh the question is), interrupts the PM constantly, and trues to use her supposed personal experience to somehow counter the well known facts about the situation and condition of the new camps etc.. because she is emotionally charged and personally invested in supporting illegal immigration at all costs.
Now finally to the pushbacks, assuming she was a non crazy person with basic manners with the ability to ask a question properly,
I personally couldnt care less even though I know they are illegal, cause when shit hits the fan, not being able to defend your borders from lawbreakers is pretty insane. But this last part is my personal opinion so feel free to disagree. The earlier parts are just the truth lol.

The absolute state of the media in Greece…this guy is obviously not used to being asked serious questions by journalists.
Greece [ranks 70 in world](https://rsf.org/en/ranking_table) for press freedom. Coming in second-to-last in the EU (only Hungary is worse).
Domestic media reporting on the refugee crisis in particular [has long been obstructed](https://rsf.org/en/news/greek-public-broadcaster-censors-reports-islands-about-new-migrant-camps). So it’s all the more important for foreign media to challenge the Greek government here.
