“Kate was saying [that] Charlotte enjoys the outdoors and doing activities, and making things,” Mariam Namakula, who visited with the princess at the event, told reporters afterward, per Hello! Earlier this year, Middleton said that all of her kids, including sons Prince George, 12, and Prince Louis, 7, who she shares with husband Prince William, were “crafting in every corner of the house,” so it seems this hobby has been a favorite for a while.

And while participating in arts and crafts is a long-standing tradition for kids everywhere, it’s becoming particularly popular with the youngest generation this year. According to a May 2025 survey of young Americans, the majority of youth have at least one “grandma hobby” that they embrace as a way to “sharpen attention, soften anxiety, and restore a sense of place in the real world.” These “grandma hobbies” in question include journaling, gardening, napping, crocheting, playing board games, watching old movies, knitting, doing Jigsaw puzzles, embroidery, and more.

Pinterest’s 2025 Summer Trend Report showed that teens are interested in crafting as well. Some of the crafts in question include making lip gloss keychains or stenciling on canvas tote bags or bejeweling book covers. It’s not hard to imagine Princess Charlotte trying out any of these!

We already know Princess Charlotte is creative. She previously attended Taylor Swift’s Eras tour with Prince George and Prince William and got really into making friendship bracelets. Afterward, Prince William once rocked a “Papa” bracelet made by his daughter.

“This is a relic, if you like, from a Taylor Swift concert that my daughter decided that she wanted to create a bracelet for,” Prince William said of the accessory, per Express. “She gave it to me when I came away. So I promised to wear it and try not to lose while I was out here.”

Middleton didn’t give more details on exactly what type of crafting Princess Charlotte has been up to, but we know that whatever it is will certainly be treasured by her supportive family.
